A little honesty from a small independent business 🤍 On the eve of our 12th birthday…

Like many independent hospitality venues, we’re navigating some very real challenges behind the scenes. Rising costs across the board — from energy and ingredients to increasing card transaction fees — have had a huge impact. Those fees alone have forced some difficult decisions, including reducing our team. We now employ four fewer staff than we did pre-Covid.

One of the hardest balances we face is staffing appropriately to deliver the level of service we’re proud of, while working within ever-tighter margins. We may look busy at times, but the reality is that appearances can be misleading, and costs are crippling. No two days are the same.

We completely understand that families everywhere are feeling the pinch too. But if you’re able to support local businesses, even in small ways, it truly makes a difference.

Paying with cash when you can helps reduce fees and keeps more money within the business and the local economy. Order takeaway cake. Recommending us to friends and family means the world — personal recommendations are gold. Bring someone new next time you visit or share our posts and stories on Instagram and Facebook. It costs nothing, but it massively boosts our reach.
