Hello folks - quick update from our hibernation mode - we've made a planning application to optimise the building which has caused a local social media clickbait drama (and online abuse directed at us) thanks to Andy Message an SCC fireman of Ballingdon St and Darren Barrs of Amor Interiors (an interior design shop which recently moved to smaller premises on Friar Street). Last week quite rightly Andy lodged a query with with us by email about our application - we responded and invited him to come and have a face to face chat and discuss any misgivings. However, sadly instead the next day he launched a post on his blog page and an associated petition which made misleading claims about our application - which actually increases employment and community amenity sustainably. Most unfortunately the social media shares generated a lot of divisive online behaviour (many by people who never visited us when open). To all the disappointed FB moaners out there we're very sorry we never offered lobster thermadore for £5 and a free pint with a lemonade top but we transformed the former pub and put an enormous amount of unrewarded effort into what was an unloved derelict site with a history of alcoholism (and a lot else too blue for FB). Our build out plans will make it awesome. We are in discussion with the local planning team and councillors to discuss managing our new found popularity. Anyone who is interested to discuss the plans personally is very welcome to do so by contacting us at [email protected]. An informed comment will carry a lot more weight ... Let's all keep it nice and community oriented on social media

So here’s the thing - massive pressure on RNLI due to staycations - RNLI struggling To fundraise due to social distancing ...

The Aldeburgh & District Lifeboat Guild is pleased to announce two new ways to support Aldeburgh Lifeboats. Since March and in line with RNLI guidelines for coping with Covid-19, all planned fund raising events and activities have been postponed. With the pandemic ongoing it is unlikely that we will be able to organise any events or collections until 2021. There has been a massive impact on the Aldeburgh Lifeboats income so far this year. So as we all get used to the ‘new normal’ it is great to be able to announce the following methods for donations:
