There are a couple of tickets remaining for tonight's terere tasting. It's an opportunity to learn about the national d**k of Paraguay and try the produce from farms like this. Terere on its own is a little like green tea but you'll also be able to experiment with citrus infusions and juices to achieve different flavours. It's lauded as a super food across South America. Send me a message to reserve.

Found this while tidying my office. What a blast from the past eh? Does anyone still have a ‘I used correct change at Stretford Sip Club’ star sticker? Never have teaching aids been so misused.

This is your call to get your tickets booked for our tasting on May 31st.

During this alcohol free tasting of terere and mate you’ll learn all about the herbs and botanicals used to make up this drink, famous all over South America but especially in Paraguay.

You’ll be equipped with a specially made cup and straw used to filter the brew as you drink. You’ll then learn how the drink is mixed and made using a variety of remedios, some you’ll recognise, some you won’t.

During the course of the evening you’ll then be able to experiment with different additions to the clean green tea taste of the water, to the citrusy refreshing combination of South American remedios, to the fruity flavour of juice, as added in Brazil.

This is a brilliant opportunity to learn more about the culture and people of Paraguay. A pound from each ticket will go to the local school in Edilera where our herbs are grown.

The tasting is at kelder on May 31st at 8. Wine and other drinks also available at the bar. Buy tickets now via the link:

THIS IS NOT A POST ABOUT CHICKENS

I’m finally getting around to doing the very first post trip terere tasting. It’s on May 31st from 8pm and tickets are £11 with a quid being donated to Edilera school, local to many of our growers in Paraguay. You can get tickets via the link.

This is a structured tasting. Each attendee will get a traditional vessel and straw/sieve thingy 🧉 filled with the mate herb and then there will be a number of different flavours to top up with. I’ll introduce a bit about mate and our growers as well as how to go about drinking terere. Lovely Fred at Kelder will have the bar open so you’re welcome to get a glass of wine to drink alongside.

The reason for the cute chicken photo (she is a beauty isn’t she) is as a sort of apology for not cracking on with the tastings. I’ve been doing this whole self sufficient lifestyle thing and it’s really distracting from my former focus of having a business/saving the world. This is OJ and she’s actually a homicidal maniac. I actually wanted a more engaging photo than this but she pecked me in the eye directly after I took the photo.

Hope to see some of you there. I won’t bring the aggressive hen. Probably.

There’s no booze at which has resulted resulted in an outstanding AF menu including this pomegranate sour which managed the perfect balance between sweet and sour while maintaining a light and refreshing mouth feel. More of this please. Much more.

I'm working on something exciting and looking for someone who's completely ace at cocktails and looking to develop a bit of a business out of it. Itching to say more but can't yet. I'd be eternally grateful if you could give this a share/pass it on to anyone who might be interested.

Has anyone else been using AI for actual real stuff? Not just generating raps about tomatoes in the style of Liz Truss or whatever.

I’ve suddenly realised I need to put together a pitch deck for Sunday and it occurred to to me I might have a go at using a couple of AI tools I’ve been introduced to via my content creation course. Granted this is probably prevarication and I’d almost certainly be quicker to throw something together using my existing business plan.

I have two questions: is this ethical? Does anyone know of an AI tool for generating infographics?

Well. My first shipment of mate just cleared customs. I’m feeling pretty pleased with myself to be honest.

Full disclosure: it was in an extra suitcase carried by my parents who’ve been travelling around South America for the past few weeks and have just returned to England and the unrepenting lure off Tuesday uke club.

Nevertheless, after a bumpy start to the year, I’ve now become a registered economic operator (don’t know what it means but expect to see EORI after my name going forward) and have made my first bulk purchase and customs declaration. More importantly, I can now organise the first tastings!

Though it’s a mere fraction of the price of air freight (I’ll never complain about carry on restrictions again) this is not the most sustainable importing route, nor is it logistically viable longer term though my dad might wish it. Future imports will be sea cargo and will be fully carbon weighted for sustainability considerations.

It’s a step forward though isn’t team? Happy bloody Friday eh!?

(I’m also glad my parents are home safe etc)
