We wanted to believe, but once again, been cast aside by . We were promised all throughout 2026 that Union Street would be included in Motorfest. We were promised cars on Union Street. We've spent not inconsiderable money and time to make the most of the opportunity. Applying for a temporary event notice to allow off sales, spent money on plastic glassware for that purpose, rostered staff, bought and prepared hundreds of pounds worth of ingredients for pizza by the slice on top of our usual offering, expecting hundreds of people walking right on our doorstep.
We wake up this morning to find out where a designated "storage road". No reason for anyone to walk down here at all (beyond our everyl loving faithful regulars).
We'd remind you that we pay to be a part of the BID. It isn't some free service setup for our benefit. It costs us over £700 a year to be a part of, and once again, we're treated as second class citizens.
All would be excusable if we hadn't had been promised otherwise. We literally had a meeting with the BID on Tuesday, and nobody felt the need to mention that plans had changed. Despite us specifically talking about our plans.
Fortunately this is the last BID related rant we'll be writing, since we won't be renewing next year, and can expect to get treated as such. It'll bother us less.
But if you feel like supporting local, where our own council and business district do not, we'll be here serving takeaway pints (plenty of low and no for the drivers) and other refreshing bits all afternoon. xx
