We're not really a football pub. But we also don't really like football pubs.

Which might make us the perfect place to watch the World Cup, oddly.

If it's on, and we're open, we'll be showing it. Sound only for England games and Scotland it you ask nicely.

At the Euros we got surprisingly busy, so we'd recommend booking for a more civilised world cup experience, without the s**t Greene King beer selection... 🤣

It's that time of year again. The best Collab of 2026 from and

Flux is back.

Phase 4, 5 and 6 with their glorious slightly bats**t NZ hopped goodness. The same hops in each variant, with a different one taking centre stage in each.

The Phase 4 at 5.2% puts the experimental NZH 109 front and centre. Tropical, light and eminently quaffable.

The Phase 5 at 6.5% stars Citra for a mango and grapefruit zing and a little more bite.

The Phase 6 goes off the rails at 8% with NZH-106 running the show. Big diesel, treacle vibes. Perhaps best enjoyed by the half.

Pouring today. Heads up, we have two kegs of the Phase 4, but only one each of the others. They won't last long...

We wanted to believe, but once again, been cast aside by . We were promised all throughout 2026 that Union Street would be included in Motorfest. We were promised cars on Union Street. We've spent not inconsiderable money and time to make the most of the opportunity. Applying for a temporary event notice to allow off sales, spent money on plastic glassware for that purpose, rostered staff, bought and prepared hundreds of pounds worth of ingredients for pizza by the slice on top of our usual offering, expecting hundreds of people walking right on our doorstep.

We wake up this morning to find out where a designated "storage road". No reason for anyone to walk down here at all (beyond our everyl loving faithful regulars).

We'd remind you that we pay to be a part of the BID. It isn't some free service setup for our benefit. It costs us over £700 a year to be a part of, and once again, we're treated as second class citizens.

All would be excusable if we hadn't had been promised otherwise. We literally had a meeting with the BID on Tuesday, and nobody felt the need to mention that plans had changed. Despite us specifically talking about our plans.

Fortunately this is the last BID related rant we'll be writing, since we won't be renewing next year, and can expect to get treated as such. It'll bother us less.

But if you feel like supporting local, where our own council and business district do not, we'll be here serving takeaway pints (plenty of low and no for the drivers) and other refreshing bits all afternoon. xx

Ahhh yes. .dc up to their old tricks. Could just have easily placed these 10m further up Union Street and included us and but instead they just pop it there. Hiding us behind barriers and security staff.

Don't worry about local traders when there's an event to be run. Block and close the path access to local businesses.

Apologies if you had a pram or accessibility requirements today.

We were quoted by security staff on site "We didn't think you'd be open today."

On a sunny Saturday in spring. And Shakespeare's birthday no less.

This is where your council tax goes folks. Paying these numpties. xx
