Sitting just outside of Stowmarket, The Magpie Inn is a wonderful village pub and restaurant. It’s hard to miss this huge Grade II early 17th Century listed pink cottage with its abundance of flower-filled hanging baskets at the front, and once tried, it’s also rather hard not to return. This Free House, mentioned in records dating from 1619, has a variety of drinking and eating areas including tw

o main bars, a garden, front, and side patio areas. A large range of food is served in the restaurant, with a mixture of traditional pub dishes and oriental. There is a full traditional Carvery every Sunday (with 3 types of fresh home roasted meat carved for you and you can help yourself to a large variety of over 10 fresh vegetables). Booking is always advisable to secure a table especially as we now have to socially distance tables. Special seafood nights are held throughout the year and Chinese New Year is celebrated every year with a large banquet and an annual Gin Festival, with over 240 different types available. There's also regular live entertainment, normally once a month on a Friday, from bands to karaoke, all semi-professionals, including Jazz, Soul, Motown, Reggae, Rock, Country & Western, etc.
