So we promised to update everyone on the charity donation we are able to make to Tonic Music for Mental Health after the wonderful day of “Fred’s Got The Blues”, on the recent Bank Holiday weekend. .

Unfortunately when we added everything up we only just got into profit, but actually, we think that’s a massive achievement, for a debut event that would have cost us nearly £1000. THANK YOU!!

So… to the numbers… we went over our costs (bands, toilets, yard hire, pizzas) by £33.14! We feel we really need to bump that up so we are going to add £76.86 and send them £100. 😊 We know it’s not a huge amount, but it’s a £100 they didn’t have before the gig, so again… THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO CAME AND DONATED and subsequently give us the confidence to go again next year!! 👍🙂

Let’s make it bigger and better! We’re already planning! Keep the evening of Sat 28th and all day Sun 29th August free! It’s the same bank holiday weekend but we figure adding another couple of acts on Saturday night might add to the party? 🎉 What do we think?

New arrivals today! 😍

Two lovely new bottled sour beers from Burnt Mill

Silkwood- Morello Cherry Sour

A blend of mixed fermented beer aged in Medoc and Sangiovese barrels. This provides the perfect canvas for the tart, vibrant fruit profile of Silkwood Orchard's Morello cherries, grown in Kent. On the nose we get intense cherry and old oak, which comes through vibrantly with an upfront drying acidity leading to jammy cherry tart.

Vinifera- Pinot Noir Sour

Light and zingy on the palate with red currents and floral notes leading you into flavours of an earthy forest floor. The base beer was naturally fermented in Sangiovese and Medoc barrels, which were then blended to give us a complex sour beer with light wood tannins and velvety vinous notes.

Classic Vinyl Sunday this week is "English Settlement" by XTC.

Starting at 4pm we'll play the album in full plus some tracks from other XTC albums and artists inspired by XTC.

That indeed was Fred’s Got the Blues! Thank you to everyone who came! What a day!

Apart from you lot who were the real stars, we’d like to thank again our amazing bands, who played brilliantly across the day, we’d like to thank the weather for holding back until literally everything was packed away and we were inside having a wind down drink when it absolutely poured it down (phew!) and of course we NEED to thank the team! Fred, Charlie & Danny! Wow did you guys put in a shift!! Amazing work.

Thanks to everyone who donated money/bought raffle tickets in advance and across the day, to cover our costs. We look forward to seeing those gift cards, bar tabs and vouchers! We will have an official count up and let you know the exact figure that’s going to when we’ve recovered!! We got over the line! THANK YOU.

See you next year when we (think) will do it all again!!

Fred’s Got The Blues…. In full swing. Standing room only but it’s worth it.

Fred’s Got The Blues! Sun’s shining and the yard is looking great!

Both bars are open and we currently have seats but those that know are already arriving!!

First band on at 2.30… From the Brickshed, Incredible slide “cigar-box” blues guitar and vocals.

Followed at 3.45 by Dove & Boweevil… amazing blues guitar & vocals.

We then have Dom Pipkin.. New Orleans old school jazz/blues piano. Simply wonderful. Dom will be on around 5.45.

The day ends with the fabulous “Back Porch” who we’ll be welcoming “on stage” around 7.45!

Free entry but we are asking for donations to help with the added costs. All profits will go to Tonic Music for Mental Health A great mental health charity supporting musicians, people who work in the music industry and/or music venues! Thank you to those who have already donated.

Raffle also will be running to help with the fundraising. 1st prize is a £50 bar tab, donated by us 🙂👍🍻

We can’t wait to welcome The Vagaband duo back to Fred’s Bar this afternoon.

Over the last 15 years The Vagaband have taken their brand of roots rock across the UK and Europe. As regulars on the festival scene they have performed at Glastonbury, Secret Garden Party, Wilderness, Bestival, Red Rooster, Maverick and much more.

The band, who will be playing at Fred’s as a trio, incorporate elements of Americana, folk, prog, psych and 70s country funk into their repertoire.
