That’s all, folks. After six fab years, we’ve decided to call it a day.
From taking over from a poorly managed venue with a number of god-awful reviews, to dealing with the pandemic and the cost-of-living crisis etc, we’ve had to fight since day one just to keep the doors open.
We’ve truly poured our heart and soul into NE Volume Music Bar, and we wholeheartedly believe that we’ve made it a respected venue that’s well-known for supporting grassroots musicians.
We’ve hosted the likes of The Subways, The Lottery Winners, Paul Smith from Maximo Park, Beans on Toast, Rev from Reverend & The Makers, Swim Deep, the first gig for many bands, and more – including high calibre bands that have #1 albums, through to bands that have never stepped foot on stage. It really has been some ride.
Over the years, we’ve built a fantastic community of like-minded souls who passionately support grassroots musicians here in the North East. We truly hope the new owners will continue along the same path.
I (co-owner Lee) have been suffering from chronic health issues for the last 4+ years and, quite simply, I no longer have the energy to carry on. And Adam (co-owner) can no longer work 18-hour days, with his first child on the way in the coming weeks. The venue will become Amped Up and will be taken over by Chris and his family. As a family-run business ourselves, we truly wish them the best of luck!
We want to say a huge thank you to every single person who has stepped through our venue’s doors over the last 6 years, besides every single staff member who has truly made NE Volume Music Bar a friendly and welcoming place to visit. Honestly, we love you all – and we really will miss you!
See you all around.
From Lee and Adam Allcock - two Stockton-born brothers who had a dream and lived it!
