Ann says that she will be welcoming the Folk Session this Sunday evening from 8pm - with a little help behind the bar. All welcome, and do tell friends and folkies that we are keeping it going for as long as we can. D

The Devonshire Arms in Sticklepath has always been a folk friendly pub. Not only has it hosted the regular Devvy session on the first Sunday of the month for 30 years but it has also provided a base for the annual Halloween Grey Mare hunt which has been running since 2017.
Sadly, the wonderful landlady Anne has had a run of bad health. The pub has been kept going thanks to the hard work of villagers and although Anne is very keen for the folk sessions to continue, no one can be sure how long they will carry on. It is advisable to check this page each month for an update on the sessions. It will run more like a club for the few groups that use it ( darts team, conservation group and a poetry group) so choices of beers etc may be limited. However, a warm reception will be ensured for folkies to enjoy this wonderful old museum of a pub whilst we can. Contact Derek on 07721 056826

Great night -- the Devvy was crammed and there was such a lovely variety of songs and music. Next session will be on May 7th, which is the Coronation Weekend. Maybe themed, or maybe a relief to get back to some good old songs, choruses and craic

Place your order for a pasty ! Following the Sharp Connections presentation, we can retire to the Village Hall for tea and a pasty, before some of us go onto the Devvy Folk Session. We need to know how many pasties to order - so if you want one ( cheese or meat) let me know by email, or by reply. Looking forward to seeing you all.

The Monthly Devvy Singaround will take place on the 8th January - one week later than usual. The previous post show the reason... 'tis Mummers time. We'll be back on the 8th to share songs and music - seasonal and otherwise. Best wishes for the New Year.

We held a Music Hall evening - how risky were some of those songs ? Or maybe it is just the way we hear them. Some great songs that shouldn't be forgotten, and the stories around them as well. We have changed so many slang word though. Who says " Wha' cher" now, are you wearing yer titfer and what's yer Boko ? We'll here more on the regular Devvy evening, plus the traditionals and poems - and anything that people want to contribute. Bring and share ( the songs, not the beer)
