There was a lovely smell coming from the kitchen at Martins House today as our wonderful residents got busy baking shortbread biscuits! 🍪

Everyone had a part to play, from mixing the dough to shaping the biscuits and getting them ready for the oven. For some of our residents, it also brought back memories of baking at home, which made the afternoon even more special.

Of course, the best part was sitting down with a cup of tea and enjoying the finished biscuits together! ☕💜

Our lovely residents at Martins House had a creative afternoon painting sea shells! 🐚🎨

Everyone got stuck in, choosing their own colours and designs and turning simple shells into something really special. There were some very colourful creations, plenty of chatting and a few tips being shared along the way.

It was lovely to see our residents enjoying some time together and getting creative. We’ll definitely be looking forward to seeing what they get up to next! 💜

This September, Ashley from our team at Martins House is taking on Dementia UK’s challenge, walking at least one mile every day to raise funds for the charity 💜

Ashley’s two children are getting involved too, joining her for many of the walks, sometimes on foot and sometimes on their bikes! 🚲 They’re mixing up their routes and planning some longer walks at the weekends.

They’re already off to a brilliant start, with over four miles under their belts after their first two walks.

What a lovely visit we had from Lizzie and Kim from Pets As Therapy ! 🐾💜

Our wonderful residents were delighted to spend some time with Lizzie, enjoying plenty of cuddles, fuss and company. Even with the chilly weather outside, there were lots of happy faces around the home as everyone took turns saying hello to our four legged visitor 🐶

Thank you to Kim and Lizzie for coming to see us. We always love having you both visit!

For National Beach Day, we had such a lovely time here at Martins House , turning the afternoon into a little seaside escape 🏖️🌞

We brought the beach indoors with sand, refreshing sangria, and plenty of smiles all round 🍹💜 Our residents also spent time sharing favourite holiday memories, and there were some wonderful stories of days by the sea that had us all laughing and reminiscing together 😄🌊

One of the highlights was definitely our sandcastle competition 🏰 Everyone got stuck in and showed off their creativity, with some really brilliant designs taking shape as the afternoon went on

A really fun, relaxed day that felt full of joy and togetherness 💜

🎉 A very special 90th birthday celebration at Martins House! 🎂

Our lovely resident Marian recently celebrated her milestone birthday, with two days of celebrations surrounded by the people who matter most. She enjoyed a special birthday cake with fellow residents in our coffee shop, before continuing the celebrations with her family and another rather lovely cake! 🍰💜

It was wonderful to see Marian enjoying her special milestone and spending time with family, friends and our residents. Happy 90th birthday, Marian! 🥳

There was some serious competition at Martins House when our mini pool table came out! 🎱

Our wonderful residents were soon taking their shots, with some impressive attempts and a few cheeky trick shots along the way. Whether they were seasoned players or having a go for the first time, everyone got involved and enjoyed a bit of friendly banter 💜

We think a rematch might be needed soon!

As summer comes to an end, we’re looking back at some of our August highlights across Gold Care Homes ☀️💜

With plenty of summer sunshine, our homes found ways to enjoy the summer while keeping cool, with ice creams and ice cream van visits proving particularly popular! 🍦

We also put the kettle on for Afternoon Tea Week, enjoyed some well-earned downtime for National Relaxation Day and made the most of the Summer Bank Holiday.

There was plenty to enjoy at Martins House with a cheese and w**e afternoon! 🧀🥂

Our wonderful residents tucked into a great selection of Red Leicester, Cheddar, Brie, Stilton and Wensleydale, with plenty of crackers and biscuits to go alongside. There was also a choice of red, white or rosé w**e, so everyone could pick their favourite.

It was a lovely chance to sit back, have a chat and enjoy some tasty treats together. Cheers to that! 💜

Fran, Joyce and Pat enjoyed a lovely walk from Martins House, making the most of the sunshine and some fresh air 🌳☀️

They stopped to watch the children playing in the park, which brought back plenty of smiles and sparked a few lovely conversations. Sometimes it is the simple things that make an outing special 😊

It was a lovely way to spend some time outdoors together, and we hope there are plenty more sunny walks to come 💜
