After 17½ wonderful years… it’s time to say goodbye.
Seventeen and a half years ago, myself and Lynn walked into the Hare and Hounds and began what turned out to be one of the most important chapters of our lives. Back then we could never have imagined just how many memories, friendships, and special moments would be created within those walls.
From the fancy dress nights to the themed parties, from the well-remembered “Tramps” nights with the bonfires blazing out the back, to the countless evenings filled with laughter, music, and great company — the Hare and Hounds has always been more than just a pub. It became a place where people came together, where friendships were formed, and where a real sense of community grew.
Over the years we have shared so many special moments together — birthdays, weddings, family parties, celebrations, and nights that will never be forgotten. The Hare and Hounds has also been a place where people have supported one another in the harder times too, when the community came together to remember loved ones who are sadly no longer with us.
For myself and Lynn, the Hare and Hounds also holds very personal memories. Over the years we have lost people very close to us, including my mum and dad, Derek and Grace. The Hare and Hounds was where we held their wakes and family gatherings, surrounded by friends, family, and the community that meant so much to them and to us. Because of that, this place will always hold a very special place in our hearts.
Saying goodbye to somewhere that has been such a huge part of our lives for 17½ years is not easy, and it truly is with a heavy heart that we share this news.
Myself and Lynn would like to thank every single person who has supported us over the years — the regulars who became like family, the friends who helped when help was needed, and everyone who walked through the doors to share in the good times. Without you, the Hare and Hounds would never have been what it became.
Before we close, we will be having a “This Is It” Finale Weekend:
🎤 Friday 20th March – Karaoke hosted by Paul – 8pm
🎤 Saturday 21st March – Karaoke hosted by Paul – 8pm
🎶 Sunday 22nd afternoon – Live entertainment
Monday 23rd March will be our last day of opening.
If anyone would like to come along over the weekend, raise a glass, share a memory, sing a song, or simply say goodbye to the Hare and Hounds, you would be very welcome.
The Hare and Hounds has never just been a building to us — it has been a home, a meeting place, and a place full of memories that will stay with us forever.
Thank you to everyone who has been part of the Hare and Hounds family over the last 17½ years. We will never forget the laughter, the friendships, and the moments we have all shared together.
Please share your favorite memories of the Hare and Hounds in the comments below. Your stories mean the world to us.
With sincere thanks and very full hearts,
Kev and Lynn
