Puzzle Hall Poets Live Puzzle Poets lasted from around 1997 to 2025 as an open mic poetry gathering. As a live event it is now closed.

Over those years it varied between a quiet read around, a loud audience led open mic, and a mix of open mic and guest poets.

Puzzle Poets survived the closure of the Puzzle Hall Pub, moves to three other Sowerby Bridge pubs and eventually a move back to the Puzzle, now a Community owned pub and Covid too. However nunbers dwindled in 2025 to ones and twos so now it has come to an end as a live event.
this page seems pretty much a good interaction with opportunities to communicate events and publications so long may it continue. please keep content relevant.

Poetry at the Puzzle is Cancelled. We have decided to close this event due to lack of support.
We have no plans at present to restart it.
This poetry night has had a 30 year run. Thank you to everyone who has supported it, performed at it, and been a great audience over all those years.

Still places available for our next live poetry event, which brings together some of the leading local poets for recitations of their works inspired by the Brontë sisters.

The event is curated by Ian Humphreys, formerly Poet in Residence at the Brontë Parsonage Museum and Editor of “No Net Ensnares Me”, an anthology of poetry inspired by the Brontës and the wild.
