The Sands Pub - new

The Sands Pub - new Aisdale's historical pub that served the local community, visitors and tourists. Back when prices for John Smiths and Fosters at happy hour were Β£2.40 per pint!

Although the pub has closed down, we keep the page open to share our memories of the place and to pay tribute to the wonderful late Tommy Barton. Situated next to Ainsdale Beach in the onset of Sand Nature trials and Ainsdales Famous Nature reserve, The Sands was an ideal place to capture the essence of the Ainsdale Coast. Facilities ranged from Pool Room, outside seating areas, two large function

rooms that held many parties, christenings, etc and home to meetings for various local clubs, southport angling & fishing society, bikers clubs, walkers clubs, quiz leagues and many more.

Leah and Lyn still visit the Sands lake and go equipped with Swan and duck food.

The two signets are almost fully grown but notably one has been absent over the last week and can only see the three swans on the lake - do we know what happened to the fourth? I'm hoping it has been safely relocated as one of the parent swans seemed a bit bolshy.

9 years since the passing of Tommy Barton and in October, 9 years of the pub being left empty :(

We miss you TB and those Sands regulars who are no longer with us today.

No matter what becomes of the Sands, it holds lots of great memories of times gone by - if you have a favourite memory, please do share πŸ’•

I was up at the sands lake this week and would just like to say we were very sad to hear of the recent passing of Doug aitchinson. Doug was a true gentleman, one of our regular customers for decades, always had a smile on his face whatever the weather, and we would like to extend our thoughts and sympathies to his family πŸ₯€πŸ₯€πŸ₯€ x
