One last toast…
Two years, where did they go??
What a great last weekend at Craft 101. Thank you to every single one of you who came along to raise a glass. Your support has meant the world to us.
Friday night set the tone perfectly with the brilliant East Cowes Shanty boys, warming the cockles, delivering the laughs, and doing what they do best: carrying an evening with heart and charm. And then came the lads from Honky-Tonk Highway on Saturday - Priddle, Hicks and Cam. What can we say? They are some musicians. For those lucky enough to see them, duelling banjos has never sounded so good. A perfect way to sign off.
Across these two years we’ve shared some laughs, made friends, and hopefully brought something a little bit different to the neighbourhood. But nothing lasts forever. With the market as it is and the current climate being as tough as it's ever been for the trade, we’ve made the decision to hang up our craft ale bar boots and say goodbye to the Hub.
It’s been a journey from taking on an old bike shop... the stresses of running a small business shouldn't be underestimated, and to all those that do, I tip my hat, there are certainly days when you question your decisions and sanity. You all deserve medals for giving it a go, it can be a very lonely experience, I was fortunate to have megs with me kicking my ass where necessary and some great friends Jay, Jord, Adam, Slawton, weaver, Burt, who stuck with me, through the ups and downs I couldn't of done it without all your support. Your shoulders were broad when I needed them. Also to Josh and Rich for digging in and keeping the doors opening.
Take care of each other. Keep supporting independent whenever you can, it really does make a difference, I get the feeling the short term road (and let's hope it is short) is going to be tough.
Good luck Shirley, good luck Southampton.
And maybe if you are over at some point we’ll see you on the other side… the Isle of Wight.
All the best
Glenn
