Thursday we’re going head to head - the elegance of Old World Europe against the boldness of New World winemaking. Same varieties, different climates, different philosophies, wildly different results in your glass.

Last time we did this event? Let’s just say it got competitive. The laughs were loud, the debate was lively and the atmosphere was something else entirely.

The sacrifices I make for Wine in the Willows… 🇮🇹🍷

Whilst away in London with the day job, I found myself in a wonderful Italian restaurant and, in the name of research of course, ordered their homemade tiramisu.

What followed was one of those moments where everything just works. The rich coffee, cocoa and mascarpone flavours paired beautifully with a glass of Moscato d’Asti – the very same style we’ll be featuring on our specials board this week.

One of my favourite parts of running a wine bar is discovering little gems like this and bringing those ideas back to Somersham. Great wine is always about more than what’s in the glass – it’s about the experience, the food, the conversation and the memories that go with it.

Safe to say this pairing gets my full recommendation. 🍰✨

After the fantastic success of our recent wine tastings, we’re back with another evening of discovering what makes wine so fascinating!
This month, we’re putting Old World and New World wines head-to-head. Taste the same grape varieties grown in different parts of the world and see if you can spot the difference. From climate and winemaking styles to flavour and character, it’s amazing how much location can influence a wine.
