Hello Everybody,
Howโs the weather been over the last month? Things seem to be returning to normal, with much cooler temperatures and some much needed rain.

The quiz on 18th August was attended by 62 players, forming 13 teams. The contestant in the 1-2-1 question chose the category โPot Luckโ, and the question was:
โ๐๐ก๐๐ญ ๐ฐ๐๐ฌ ๐๐จ๐ก๐ง ๐๐๐ฒ๐ง๐โ๐ฌ ๐ฅ๐๐ฌ๐ญ ๐๐ข๐ฅ๐ฆ?โ
The answer being โ๐๐ก๐ ๐๐ก๐จ๐จ๐ญ๐ข๐ฌ๐ญโ. Unfortunately, the contestant gave the wrong answer. The winners of the quiz, scoring ๐๐๐ ๐ฉ๐จ๐ข๐ง๐ญ๐ฌ, were โ๐๐จ๐งโ๐ญ ๐๐ก๐๐ง๐ ๐ ๐๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ ๐๐ข๐ง๐โ.
The second quiz of the month took place on 25th August, with 68 players forming 12 teams. The 1-2-1 contestant once again chose โPot Luckโ, with the question:

The answer was ๐ญ๐ก๐ ๐๐ฉ๐๐ง๐ข๐ฌ๐ก ๐๐ข๐ฏ๐ข๐ฅ ๐๐๐ซ, which the contestant answered correctly. Congratulations to that person! The winnerโs prize was ยฃ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ฌ๐ก.
The September 1-2-1 question prize will be set at ยฃ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ฌ๐ก.
In total, ยฃ260 was raised through entry monies, plus a ยฃ10 donation, giving a grand total of ยฃ270. This has been sent to and received by the ๐๐ข๐ง๐๐จ๐ฅ๐ง๐ฌ๐ก๐ข๐ซ๐ & ๐๐จ๐ญ๐ญ๐ข๐ง๐ ๐ก๐๐ฆ๐ฌ๐ก๐ข๐ซ๐ ๐๐ข๐ซ ๐๐ฆ๐๐ฎ๐ฅ๐๐ง๐๐.
To date, the quizzes have raised a grand total of ยฃ๐๐,๐๐๐.๐๐. So, I say a very big thank you to everyone who takes part, and to all those contestants who have taken part over the years.
The September quizzes are on 22nd and 29th September, starting promptly at 7:45pm, with quiz meals available from 5:30pm at ยฃ7.50.

We normally would have had a Horseshoes BBQ by this time, but due to the other birthdays and anniversary BBQs we have held, we have not been able to hold our own BBQ.
Instead, I have decided to have a ๐๐๐ง๐๐ฅ๐จ๐ซ๐โ๐ฌ ๐๐ก๐จ๐ข๐๐ ๐๐ข๐ ๐ก๐ญ on Saturday 7th November 2026, entitled:

This month, we said goodbye to Jess Holmes, who has taken a job at Lincoln University in the Sports Department, a role for which she obtained her degree.
We also said goodbye to Reilly Davies, who has left to take up an apprenticeship in Electrical Engineering.
I thank them both for all their hard work at the Horseshoes, and we all wish them every success in their future careers.

As mentioned in earlier notes, we are having the Thatchers Fusion removed and, on 11th September, it will be replaced by ๐๐ฅ๐ ๐๐จ๐ฎ๐ญ ๐
๐ฅ๐๐ฏ๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ฐ๐๐ฏ๐.
We have all our normal b**rs and ciders, including Carling, Stella, Thatcherโs, Guinness, Birra Moretti, Doom Bar, Timothy Taylor and Batemans ###B. We also have a whole range of non-alcoholic drinks, cocktails and, of course, our extensive range of wines. On the spirits side, whiskies are not as popular as they were in years gone by, but we stock a range of gins, which remain very popular.
I thank everyone for supporting the Horseshoes, because, of course, without such marvellous support, the Horseshoes could go the way of some 7,000 pubs over the years and simply disappear.
I would also like to say a very big thank you to all our members of staff for their continued hard work and support.
