This Thursday, very exciting for our town! ๐ฌ๐ง
East Lindsey will take centre stage this Thursday as Stage Two of the Lloyds Tour of Britain Men arrives in the district, bringing an international field of riders to tackle a challenging 180.2km route from Boston to a spectacular seaside finish on Grand Parade, Skegness.
This is the first time in the modern-era that the race has visited the district, providing a fantastic opportunity to showcase our towns and villages, coastline and beautiful countryside to audiences across the UK and beyond. ๐บ๐ฌ๐ง
๐จ Communities along the route have fully embraced the occasion, with cycling-themed displays, decorations and celebrations helping create a real festival atmosphere. Riders will pass through Woodhall Spa, Horncastle, Wragby, Louth, Mablethorpe, Sutton-on-Sea, Alford, Spilsby and Skegness, while nine specially created pieces of land art, celebrating Lincolnshire's heritage and famous figures, will be visible along the race route. ๐ดโโ๏ธ๐พ
๐ช๐ญ In Skegness, a packed programme of family entertainment awaits, including pedal-powered activities, circus workshops, cycle-themed street theatre, face painting, live music, a silent disco, fitness activities, charity stalls and a magical fairy bike trail. Tower Gardens and Grand Parade will be buzzing with activity throughout the afternoon. ๐ถโจ
And let's not forget the Spitfire flypast at the finish.
โ ๏ธ Please remember that rolling road closures will be in place along the route, with specific closures affecting parts of Skegness including Lumley Road, Grand Parade and North Parade. Temporary car park and taxi rank closures will also be in operation, so please allow extra time for journeys and check travel information before setting out.
