Dear All, I am sad to say that Katy has left her role as manager at The Charles Darwin. Please do not contact Katy regarding bookings of the pool tables. Katy is still keeping her toe in the water and assisting with parties and buffets. If you have a party booked at the pub there is no change.
I would like to say a massive thank you to Katy for the time she has worked for me. Over the past 2.5 years Katy has fell like a younger sister and a mother sometimes rather than an employee . I would also like to say a massive thank you to all her family as well. I am 43 years old and spent 42 Christmas’s with my family and one with Katy’s family that made me feel like part of their family. Myself and the team all wish Katy the best of luck in her new employment.
Whist we are talking about leaving it is common knowledge I have handed my notice in and will depart the business on 30th Sept. To save the gossip and rumours of people going round saying they have the pub already (we are the monk t***s) I will explain the process. Today I officially signed the paperwork to say I’m going, it now goes to a 2 week cooling off period. Once that is passed the Managed pub team at Admiral will check the pub out to see if they want it. If they don’t then it goes to lease. My BDM has said they have received over 10 calls regarding it coming up already. I am an open book and happy to discuss the business with anyone that wishes to take it on, just message me. The Darwin is my local pub and I wish more than anyone it continues on. The person that does get it I will support with advice to help them succeed. I promise I will not get a job in the co op next door and slag you if you make the pub busier than me.
The end is near, however, I am not there yet and as a result I am going out with a huge bang. The Darwin is going to be the only place to watch the World Cup this summer. It will be the only pub in Shrewsbury to host children as the kick offs are late. The only pub to work with the biggest international fast food brand and I have one more thing that has never been done in the town before. Only one thing left to say……ITS COMING HOME!!!!!!
