Both Martin and Helen have new collections and you will be able to buy copies on the night. And there's a chance to appear alongside them in our One Poem Open Mic feature.

We had our first event at The Hive on Tuesday evening. It was lovely to see new faces and regulars. Excellent readings from George Stanworth, Steve Harrison, Barry Tench, Kay Steele, Martin Needham, Paul Mortimer, Bethany Rivers, Steve Thayne, Bob Savage, Nick Pearson, Peter Timmins, et moi. We were too busy to take photos. A lovely attentive audience too ... it all bodes well. Thanks to staff at the Hive and to all who came along.

To be repeated on Tuesday 12th November by popular demand - Open Mic, 7.30pm, the Hive.

I'm starting to feel a little misty-eyed at the prospect of reading in Much Wenlock again. It has been the location of so much poetry reading, writing, listening for Shropshire audiences over the years, and, thanks to Anna Dreda, where I found my poetry reading feet. I'm basing my reading on the National Poetry Day theme of 'Counting' (in the sense of meaning and purpose, as well as sheep).

Here's the updated info re the next Shrewsbury Poetry, featuring Matthew Stewart. We're confirming the venue as The Old Post Office's function room - unfortunately, it is not fully accessible as it has a flight of stairs, which means this is a one-off return to this venue before we settle into a new routine at The Hive (also Milk Street). Watch this space!
