Yes and we all had full trust in them

Did you have respect for policemen when you were growing up?

Back when a bobby on the beat meant more than just keeping order — it meant trust, safety, and a quiet nod of discipline. You didn’t run from him, you stood up straighter. A word from him held weight, and his presence alone could settle a crowd. Different times, different values — but many still remember when respect was freely given and proudly upheld.

Steph Houghton has expressed strong frustration over the pay gap between England’s men’s and women’s teams.

She said that "When I looked at what [England’s men] were getting for commercial deals that really opened my eyes. The men and women play for the national teams of the same country and yet they’re getting 15 times more than us. How is that fair? I got the bit between my teeth and I was like: 'OK, we need to do something about that.'"

Solar panel dynamo

If you know what this is… you’re officially old school!

Before USB chargers and LED bike lights, we had the good old dynamo. Clip it to your wheel, start pedalling, and like magic—your headlamp lit up the road (well, sort of). It made a little hum, added some drag, and made every ride feel like a workout… but it worked.

Because they are fifty times better and have thousands more people supporting them it’s as simple as that woman’s football wouldn’t survive in any men’s league prove me wrong

Steph Houghton is really unhappy with England’s men being paid more than the women:

The wolf never eats corpses, neither of animals nor of people; it spends its entire life with one partner, it does not mate with its mother or sister; it is a monogamous animal, it does not cheat. If a partner dies, the wolf remains alone; it knows its young well: it is the only animal that helps its parents after a deep old age and brings them food.

When you kill a wolf, it looks you in the eyes until its soul leaves it; it is 25% smarter than the dog and it is the only animal that does not obey training, they say. Wolves think, dream, make plans, communicate with each other intelligently and are more like us than any other living being.

🗑️ Respect Where It’s Due – The Binmen of Yesteryear
Before wheelie bins and high-vis jackets, this was the grind. Metal dustbins slung over the shoulder, heavy lifting done with bare hands, and long days keeping our streets clean — often with a smile and a joke between mates.

These men grafted hard, rain or shine, without the modern comforts or machinery. Real work, real pride.

Let’s not forget the shoulders our clean cities were built on.

*Steptoe and Son Ride Again* (1973) is a quintessential British comedy that shines a light on working-class life with both humor and heart. The film follows Harold and Albert Steptoe, a father-and-son team running a struggling rag-and-bone business. Their endless bickering and stubbornness create a blend of sharp wit and emotional moments, offering a funny yet touching glimpse into family dynamics in 1970s England.

Set against the backdrop of a cluttered scrapyard and cramped living space, the film captures the everyday reality of urban working-class London. The comedy stems not only from slapstick and witty exchanges but also from deeper themes like ambition, disappointment, and the struggle for independence. Harold’s efforts to escape his overbearing father Albert add complexity, exploring the push and pull of loyalty and frustration within family life.

As a sequel to the beloved original series, *Steptoe and Son Ride Again* solidified the characters as icons of British comedy. It reflects the social changes of the early 1970s, balancing traditional family values with the emerging restlessness of a new generation. The film remains a treasured piece of British culture, celebrated for its sharp dialogue, memorable performances, and its honest yet humorous portrayal of family complexities.
