Happy New Year everyone!

Well, 2025, it’s a year we’ll never forget that’s for sure!

We’ve been thinking about Hope Works over the Christmas period, this is the first year in 13 years we’ve not done an autumn season or NYE party. It has been a time to take stock and remember some of the amazing times we’ve had on NYE’s at Hope Works, and amazing times in general…there’s so much to go at!!!

We are piecing together a more complete picture of what we achieved together at Hope Works, maybe even a book, there’s such a lot of incredible memories and events to enjoy. It is with this in mind that we ask you to send us your pictures and videos you have over the years, we want to document this fully from both our perspective and YOUR perspective.

BOOOOOOM!! We are buzzing to announce Phase One of No Bounds Festival 2025: Grit & Graft — a bold new chapter in our journey, taking place 10-12th October across multiple venues in Sheffield & Rotherham.🦷🛠️

As the dust settles after closing the doors to our beloved Hope Works in February, we now chart an ambitious new course — one that embraces new spaces, collaborations, banging venues and untapped potentials across Sheffield and South Yorkshire.🚀✨

We’ve been cooking up this year’s edition for months, and we are so excited we could pop!!👨🏻‍🍳🍳

The theme this year is a manifestation of our lived experience. Grit & Graft, speaks deeply to who we are. It’s rooted in the resilient spirit of Sheffield — but also resonates far beyond. It reflects the determination of migrants fleeing war-torn regions, the courage of artists confronting personal demons, and the enduring creativity of those using their craft to make sense of a complex world.💞

It was really great to speak to the BBC about the closing of Hope Works.📺 🎙️

Very significant they came to film at the space, it shows just how the ripples of our beloved space closing have spread out nationally….it really does say something about the time we are in. I really want to stress though, raving isn’t dead, the underground will always find a way, things are changing, and with people like Music Venue Trust campaigning for the £1 levy on Arena tours to help feed the grassroots sector we stand a good chance of finding a new sustainable situation for talent development via the grassroots music sector. 🌱🎶

I love smaller venues, its where so much newness is born…its often cutting edge and hugely inspiring….i just urge all of you out there to keep going to gigs and events…none of it happens without you buying the tickets. I know times are hard for many people, but for those who can afford to…please support your artists, venues and scene.💪🏻💞

As the dust still hangs in the air from the closing weekend, we are still in a sense of deep gratitude to you all and also disbelief that it’s the final chapter at Sussex Road. It’s still so raw. We are flooded with memories and the overwhelming sense of love you, our community has shown us.

We wanted to share with you this speech that our founder and captain of the ship, Liam O’Shea made half way through his closing set on Saturday 22nd February. It sums up so much about Hope Works, the realness, and the passion Liam has shown and given us all for 13 years. It is also a call to action for all of you to support our grassroots music venues. It’s no joke, it has been incredibly hard to survive for many, despite all the hard work and community…

However, we are not dead, oh no, far from it, we are just changing state, and will live on as we take No Bounds forward and build this community across our region showcasing the best in underground, adventurous music and art we can find, all styles, all in, all the time supporting and growing our incredible local talent. We are growing, from the ground up, we continue to build the community we want to be part of…TOGETHER!
