For those residents of Brunswick Gardens, you will know Gabrielle as our talented lady who writes the stories in our monthly newsletter which we will soon be starting to share here on our page too!

Gabrielle is taking on an incredible challenge in memory of her beautiful daughter, Alex.

In 2027, it will be 30 years since Alex sadly passed away from Neuroblastoma. Alex received treatment at Sheffield Children’s Hospital in 1997, with just seven months between her diagnosis and her passing.

Alex was born in London, and Gabrielle will be taking part in the London Marathon on Saturday 24th April 2027, raising money for Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity in Alex’s memory. She will also be taking part in the Sheffield Half Marathon just a few weeks beforehand.

After Alex was born in London, Gabrielle and her family moved to Sheffield when Alex was just seven months old, making it feel especially fitting to commemorate her life in both of the cities she called home.

As well as supporting Gabrielle with her fundraising, we will also be continuing to share her journey here on our page to help raise awareness of Neuroblastoma. This is such a meaningful cause, and if you are able to support her and this wonderful charity, every donation would mean so much. 🫶

Let’s get behind Gabrielle, help raise awareness, and cheer her on every step of the way! This is a super good cause to support🏃‍♀️❤️

🚨WE’RE HIRING!🚨

We’re looking for someone special to join our lovely team at The Friendly Foodie!

We’re looking for someone who is:

1. Friendly & approachable — happy, smiley, chatty and caring
2. Confident & personable — comfortable talking to customers and anyone they meet
3. Hardworking & adaptable — able to multitask and work hard
4. Confident with money — able to handle cash, add up quickly and give the correct change
5. Clean & presentable — takes pride in maintaining a smart appearance (no false nails)
6. Attentive to detail — takes pride in high standards, from ensuring immaculately clean pots to beautifully presented food and drinks
7. Looking for flexibility — starting with a few hours per week, with the opportunity to build up more hours over time if wanted

Please note: This role is for someone aged 18 or over, as the position involves working behind the bar

You would be required to:

1. Work Sunday lunchtime, plus some weekday, evening and/or Saturday shifts
2. Be flexible and happy to work as part of a team, including swapping shifts when needed
3. Have experience, or be willing to learn quickly, how to serve customers, make drinks, handle food and/or work behind a bar
4. Be trustworthy and responsible when handling money and working with vulnerable people
5. Switch quickly between different roles — serving, clearing tables, washing pots, making drinks and food, and cleaning
6. Sometimes work independently, including opening and closing
7. Be active and comfortable working on your feet for extended periods

What we offer:

1. Minimum wage
2. A very friendly team to work with
3. Full support while you learn the ropes
4. Flexibility with relatively few restrictions on holiday and days off etc — hence the need for flexibility!
