Smoked Norwegian sea herring with white pepper and ramson in the tin. And I've done a fresh batch of potted mackerel an all seeing as it went down such a treat last time.

I've been making a fresh batch of our Bloody Mary spice mix this morning for just such an occasion....and I've found cuts on my hands and pores around my eyes that I didn't even know about 🥵 🔥 🥵 🔥 🥵

Mum's been in and had the last tin of Sardines a la Tropezienne this afty, so we've made a change on the specials menu. She has opted for White Tuna en escabeche 🐟 😋

I googled it to check instead of eating the stock (don't get high off your own supply right?!). Escabeche is a vinegar-based spiced sauce. Think white wine vinegar 🥂, peppercorns 🧂, bay leaves 🌿 and paprika 🌶️. Tangy but savoury. Lovely stuff.

Bit of a change around on the specials today after a busy weekend so far and it's all on the Mezze boards...

New dips and pickles galore!

Dips:
•🫛 Pea and mint🌿
•🧀 Htipiti 🌶️

Pickles:
•🥬 Giardiniera 🥕
•🥒 Babbi courgettes 🍆

Oh and by popular demand I've also done another batch of cheddar and marmite sosig rolls 😉

Lovely trip to see the gang this morning to get some fresh cheeseboards!

Wookey Hole cave-aged cheddar, Ossau-Iraty, Stichelton and some Comte St. Antoine are on the boards for this weekend. Maybe washed down with a glass of Petit Verdot perhaps?! 👀 👀 👀 🧀 🍷 🧀 🍷 🧀

Just scrolling through the grid and realised I'd never posted about this, possibly the most popular cocktail of the new menu so maybe there's no need to tell you about it? 🤷

Well it's the Falcao Punch. Inspired by a couple of drinks/meals I had on holiday in Porto last year, it's a wonderfully refreshing and carefully balanced blend of rum, falernum, campari, orgeat, tamarind, pink peppercorn, mango and grapefruit....
...Phwoar that's a lot of ingredients to write down. Don't worry though, we batch up all the booze into one handy mix (the Falcao Punch) so it only takes 2 minutes to make 😉

A whole bunch of new specials came on last night, barely had time to update the chalkboard!

This is your Sunday update to tell you that the fish board now consists of:

• Tinned salmon with sea buckthorn and lemon verbena 🐟

• Potted crab claw with orange zest and paprika butter 🦀

Both absolutely bloody delish and I will be partaking in one myself as a Sunday treat, I humbly suggest you do the same 😋

Sunday service now in session...

Reckon there's a few sore heads out there today, so if you're feeling up to it we might just have the cure for you. Bloody Marys, cold shandies, delicious cocktails, ploughman's board, baked camembert, sausage roll.....one or all of those is going to make you feel better I'm sure 😂

Open normal hours today, unless it's a mad one before the Paul Heaton gig, might stay open an extra hour or two if so. Let's just play it by ear eh?
