Ownership update:
Dear all.
Today with a heavy heart, I must announce my time at The Wortley Arms is coming to an end. A sale for the lease to the building has been agreed and will be completed on Monday 4th March. The last service for myself & The Wortley Arms as it is now will be Sunday 25th February. The pub will be closing for a period in March & I will contact all bookings affected in the coming days.
Over the past 16 years or so The Arms has been my life. When I started as a rookie 18-year-old bar man I would have never imagined I would eventually go on to own such a great place. I have met so many amazing people not only current & ex work colleagues but regular customers who have kept us going from the very early days back in 2007. There are too many people to name individually but so many of you are friends for life.
I must also thank a few people who have helped me along the way:
Firstly, my amazing staff members, some have come and gone but for the most part it’s been a pleasure to work with you all. I also cannot think of a better group of people to finish with than my current team, they’ve given me everything, and it’s been a joy to see how in particular the current front of house team have developed into such great people. To everyone who’s worked so hard for me over the years thank you!
Thank you to my long-suffering partner & family who have all supported me so much during my ownership. Being there for me in the good & bad times. They have all helped in their own ways at certain points. I would also like to thank Andy Gabbitas, Lady Rowena and The Wharncliffe Estate for entrusting me to maintain what Andy created & carry on the success he had during his tenure.
Lastly a massive thank you, to you our loyal and amazing customers. As I said earlier there are too many people to name individually but so many of you have you supported us through thick and thin. It’s been a pleasure to serve you all. The Wortley Arms has given me memories and experiences that I will remember for ever.
For now, I hope to see as many of you as possible over the next two weeks, to the people I won’t see, thank you. Your custom over the years has been much appreciated, I will miss you all.
Best wishes
Jamie
