🍻☀️ NOTOBERFEST – THE END OF SUMMER PARTY ☀️🍻
Saturday 26 September | 4pm–11pm

Summer might be coming to an end, but we’re planning to see it out properly!
Join us at Wortley Club for Notoberfest – our special end-of-summer party, with live entertainment, great food and plenty of atmosphere from afternoon right through into the evening.

So why Notoberfest? Because it’s more than just an Oktoberfest — we’ll be starting with plenty of Bavarian fun, but there’s much more to the event than that. And as this is our End of Summer Party, we thought late September made much more sense than waiting until October!

We’ll kick things off with a proper Bavarian flavour, as our Oompah Band gets everyone into the swing of things. Expect brass, traditional favourites and plenty of fun! 🍺🎺
Then it’s over to Steve Reel, bringing us sounds from the decades — a great mix of songs to sing along to, dance to and enjoy as the afternoon moves towards evening. 🎤🎶
And when the sun starts to go down, our DJ will take us through the rest of the evening with a great mix including 70s favourites, 80s dance, popular 90s tracks and party classics. 🪩💃
And of course, you’ll need something to keep you going! Our friends at Wortley Farm Shop will be serving up some delicious food available to buy. 🌭🍔

So whether you fancy a bit of Bavarian fun, singing along to some old favourites, having a dance as the evening draws in — or just enjoying good food, a drink and a great atmosphere with friends — Notoberfest should have a little bit of everything.

🎟️ Tickets are on sale now from the Bar at Wortley Club.
Members: £5 each (members can also buy tickets for their friends and family for £5 each).
Non-members: £7.50 per person

Numbers are strictly limited, so if you’re planning to join us, please don’t hang around before getting your tickets — when they’re gone, they’re gone!

🌿 A BIG THANK YOU FROM WORTLEY CLUB! 🌿

A huge thank you to everyone who came along to our walks and BBQ yesterday - and for all the lovely feedback we’ve been receiving since. 😊

It was especially nice to welcome some new faces who hadn’t visited the Club before.

Thanks too to Wortley Farm Shop for the fantastic BBQ and for helping make it such an enjoyable day.

It was a brilliant day, a lovely atmosphere and another great example of what can happen when local communities come together ❤️

And there’s plenty more happening at Wortley Club this week…

Our regular Thursday Quiz Night is back, with the Chase the Ace jackpot now up to £90.

Our Annual Harvest Festival & Competition returns this Saturday.

Home-grown produce, home baking, judging, the traditional evening auction and a great community atmosphere.

This year, a share of the proceeds from the auction will be donated to Weston Park Cancer Charity, with the Club’s share being used specifically to help fund the free events and parties we provide for children in our local community. ❤️

📍 Competition entries need to be in the Club by 5pm
🏅 Judging starts at 6pm
🔨 The auction starts at 8pm

If you have any kind donations for the auction, please can you leave them at the Club - thank you ❤️

It’s one of those lovely traditions and we’d love to see another good turnout.

It’s shaping up to be another busy week ahead at Wortley Club. 😊

🌞🌿 WHAT A BEAUTIFUL BANK HOLIDAY MORNING IN WORTLEY! 🌿🌞

It’s looking like a lovely morning for a walk — and preparations are already underway for a scrumptious BBQ later today! 🔥🍔

We’d love you to come and join us at Wortley Club for our Circular Walks, Children’s Animal Trail and Bank Holiday BBQ.

🥾 ALL THE WALKS & CHILDREN’S TRAIL ARE COMPLETELY FREE TO TAKE PART IN!

📍 Setting off from and returning to Wortley Club, Reading Room Lane, Wortley

🚗 A QUICK PARKING REMINDER

The signs for the additional parking on Howbrook Lane are now up.

⚠️ Please don’t park on the main A629, as parked vehicles there can create a hazard.

If you’re using Howbrook Lane, please park on the left-hand side.

And while you’re here, why not pop in and say hello to the team at Sheffield Retired Greyhounds towards the end of the lane? 🐾

They do wonderful work finding safe, loving homes for retired racing greyhounds at the end of their track careers and are open today until 1pm.

Our friends at Wortley Farm Shop are open now so you can always call in for a breakfast sandwich before setting off.

Then they’ll be busy getting everything ready to fire up the BBQ for us later! 🔥

Please bring enough water for your walk. We’ll also have a couple of water refill stations along the route, so you can top up if you need to.

🔥🍔 THEN IT’S BBQ TIME!

Wortley Farm Shop will be serving plenty of tasty BBQ food to purchase during the afternoon.

And whatever the weather decides to do later, the BBQ is still on! If we do get a bit of rain, we’ll simply head inside and carry on with the food, drinks and Bank Holiday fun. 🍻

🎯 We’ll also have some traditional outdoor summer games for children, families and the young at heart.

🌿🥾 BANK HOLIDAY MONDAY – FINAL INFO & PARKING 🔥🌞
Our busy organisers are out waymarking the route to make it nice and easy to follow - and it really is looking like a fantastic walk!

I tried it myself a couple of weeks ago and there’s some lovely variety along the way - from rolling farmland with views towards Crane Moor, to the rocky crags overlooking the Don Valley.

🚗 Parking
If you’re driving to Wortley, please help us make sure the event doesn’t cause problems for people living in the village.
And, please don’t park on the main A629, as parked vehicles there can create a hazard.

Our friends at Sheffield Retired Greyhounds have very kindly given us permission to use the old Howbrook Lane for parking - please see the map.
If you park on Howbrook Lane, please keep to the left and make sure you’re not causing an obstruction.

🐕 And while you’re there…
Why not pop in and say hello to the team at Sheffield Retired Greyhounds and see the wonderful work they do finding safe, loving homes for retired racing greyhounds at the end of their track careers?
They’re open 8.30am–1pm and are located towards the end of the lane.

🥓 Fancy some breakfast first?
Our friends at Wortley Farm Shop will be open from 9am, so if you arrive early you can always call in for a breakfast sandwich before the walk — and they’ll then be busy getting ready to fire up the BBQ later in the day!

A gentler countryside stroll which follows the same route as the main walk to begin with - so if you start the 8-miler and decide you’ve done enough, you can take the shorter option instead!

🐑 Children’s Animal Trail – 11am start
A much shorter, more playful trail for our younger visitors, with animals to spot along the way.

🔥 Then it’s BBQ time!
Wortley Farm Shop will be serving plenty of tasty food to purchase. And whatever the weather decides to do in the afternoon, the BBQ will still be on - if it does rain, we’ll head inside and carry on enjoying the food and a few drinks!

🌾🍂 JUST ONE WEEK TO GO UNTIL OUR ANNUAL HARVEST FESTIVAL! 🍂🌾

Join us on Saturday 5 September for one of Wortley’s lovely traditional community events – our Annual Harvest Festival & Competition.

🥕🍰 THE HARVEST COMPETITION IS FREE TO ENTER!

We’d love to see plenty of entries from Wortley and our surrounding communities. There are classes for home-grown vegetables and home-made baking, so whether you’re an experienced grower or baker or just fancy having a go for fun, everyone is welcome to enter.

Please see the previous post or the poster in the Club for the different categories. All vegetable produce must be home grown.

After the judging, the produce and generously donated items will go into our traditional Harvest Auction.

This year, a share of the proceeds from the auction will be donated to Weston Park Cancer Charity, with the Club’s share being used specifically to help fund the free events and parties we provide for children in our local community. ❤️

💜 Weston Park Cancer Charity does some incredible work for people affected by cancer and their families – providing free practical and emotional support, helping people get to hospital appointments, improving the experience of treatment and supporting vital cancer research and clinical trials.

🐣🎃🎄 The Club’s share will help fund free children’s events including our Easter, Halloween and Christmas parties, to name just a few.

🎁 BUT WE NEED YOUR HELP!

The auction can only be a success if we have plenty to auction, so if you have anything you would be kind enough to donate, please drop it off at the Club.

Produce, bottles, gifts, chocolates, hampers or anything else that might raise a few pounds would be very gratefully received.
