🤠🎶 A huge thank you from Wortley Club! 🎶🤠
A big thank you to everyone who came along to our Country Music Night. From speaking to people in the village this morning, it sounds like everyone had a fantastic time — and there’s already plenty of appetite for more events like this in the future!

Special thanks to Carl for organising the evening, and a huge thank you to Teresa, Pam and Andrea for the wonderful welcome, getting fully into the country theme, and of course for the fantastic food. Thanks also to Jake, who was working earlier in the day and still wanted to lend a hand with setting up — much appreciated.

And last, but definitely not least, a big, big thank you to the Whiskey Frogs for entertaining us. You were absolutely fantastic, and we hope everyone enjoyed the night as much as we did.

KNURR AND SPELL COMPETITION – SATURDAY 9 MAY
A great family afternoon out in the magical village of Wortley!

There’ll be some very strange goings-on down at the rugby pitch tomorrow from 1:30pm…

Mysterious characters will be arriving with their spells at the ready, and tiny balls will be launched into the air for brave competitors to try and hit as far as they can!

Alright, that may be stretching the truth slightly — it’s not quite Hogwarts — but there is a little magic in it all, and it promises to be a brilliant afternoon of fun, laughter, friendly competition, and something a bit different.

Knurr and Spell is a traditional local game that used to be hugely popular around these parts. If you’ve never seen it before, it looks like a wonderfully unusual mix of golf, cricket, and a touch of old magic — with a clever little launcher (called the spell) sending the ball into the air for players to strike as far as they can.

Whether you want to join in, cheer people on, or just enjoy the atmosphere, there’ll be plenty to enjoy for both adults and children. There are trophies to be won, lots of laughs, and a fantastic community spirit that always makes it a special occasion.
