Sunday 14th June 2pm at Craftworks we will be hosting an Emptychairsuk event. The host will be in a bright orange t-shirt; feel free to come and pull up a chair.

Empty Chairs is a simple idea: we book a small table in a pub and leave a few chairs empty, inviting anyone who wants company to join us. There's no pressure, no agenda, and no expectation to stay longer than you want.

Loneliness affects people of all ages. Empty Chairs exists to create low-pressure spaces where real human connection can happen - even if it's just sitting together for a drink.

Empty Chairs was started by Chicken Rush, where we create social experiences that bring people together and foster community.

It’s the same belief, just simpler: connection doesn’t need a perfect plan - it just needs a place to start.

☕ 100 Coffees for St Luke's ❤️

Many of our regular customers will know Richard, who still visits us twice a week and is always up for a chat over a good coffee.

After losing his wife Margaret, who received wonderful care from St Luke's Hospice, Richard wanted to find a way to give something back.

At 78 years old, he's taken on a unique challenge – travelling around France, practising his French, and inviting complete strangers to share a coffee with him. His goal? 100 coffees and raising money for St Luke's Hospice.

Margaret and Richard loved visiting France together, making this challenge a particularly meaningful tribute to her memory.

Richard has already gained attention from local newspapers, radio shows, and will even be appearing on the Gabby Roslin Show this Sunday.
