To all our customers and friends,

Is with great sadness that Sarah and myself decided to not renew the lease at the Fontmell , seeing out term at the pub to end on the last day of August 2026. The pub will go on the market next week ..

There are a few reasons why but the main reason is the fact my health will not allow me to continue the massive work load that running a pub involves, unfortunately I Been diagnosed with chronic kidney failure and will be required dialysis in the near future, and may be a possibility of a kidney transplant.
I would like to thank you all for all your support and kindness over the last three years . And hope you can continue to support us for the remainder of our time here.
Please I ask you to respect our decision at this difficult time for our family.
Also a massive thank you to all our amazing staff for their hard work over the last 3 years .

Good everyone.
Just a quick update.
I have now been discharged from the hospital which is great .
Unfortunately I'm won't be able to go back to work untill Saturday so
the kitchen will remain closed until Saturday morning reopening on Saturday dinner service .
The pub will be open
Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 4 pm till 9 pm .
I would like to thank you all for your kind messages and well wishes .

Good morning
Unfortunately we will not be serving food this week as Arnie our chef is in hospital.The bar will be open from 16:00 till close Wednesday and Thursday.
15:30 till close Friday Saturday and Sunday.
We are sorry for any inconvenience caused

Good morning, unfortunately we have no chef today as Arnie is unable to see out of his eye and it's not safe for him to be in the kitchen. So sorry for the inconvenience .

Good morning, Road closure information.
If you are visiting us for lunch today , traveling from Shaftesbury the road is passable as it's only closed at claysmore school, if you are traveling from blandford please use the top road , so business as normal here at the Fontmell.
