WATER SUPPLY PROBLEMS AFFECT LARGE PARTS OF SCUNTHORPE and SURROUNDING AREA
Residents, businesses, colleges and schools across large parts of Scunthorpe and the surrounding area are being affected by water supply problems this morning following two burst pipes.
Many schools and colleges have announced they will be clised today. Has your child's school had to close, is your businesses affecfed? Let us know.
Anglian Water says its teams have been working overnight to repair a burst pipe supplying parts of Scunthorpe and the surrounding area.
However, while that repair was taking place, a second pipe serving the same area also burst, temporarily stopping water from flowing into a local storage reservoir.
The reservoir subsequently emptied, leaving some customers experiencing low water pressure, intermittent supplies or no water at all.
The disruption is affecting a large area, with residents reporting problems with their water supply, while the situation is also impacting local venues and schools.
Anglian Water says it has now completed a temporary repair to the first burst pipe, meaning water is flowing back into the network.
Teams remain on site working to repair the second pipe and restore normal supplies as quickly as possible.
The water company has warned that supplies may continue to be affected while the reservoir refills.
Anglian Water is asking customers who currently have water to only use what they need for essential purposes.
The company says reducing demand will help the network recover more quickly and allow normal water supplies to return sooner.
Residents affected by the disruption are advised to keep an eye on Anglian Water's latest updates as engineers continue working on the repairs.
