Hospitality businesses in the UK also pay a 20% VAT rate – one of the highest in Europe.

The hospitality sector is backing the "VAT's The Problem" campaign, calling for a reduced 10% VAT rate to help protect pubs, restaurants, cafés and the jobs they support.

Supporters say a lower VAT rate would help safeguard local venues, staff, suppliers and the wider community.
