The Isle of Wight Council has once again put forward proposals to introduce parking charges in areas that have traditionally been free for residents and visitors. Similar proposals were rejected last year, but have now been brought forward again.

Most importantly for us this includes sandown high street.

Can you imagine having to pay to visit our store? Or any other store in our high street?

We are asking for anyone who disagrees to these proposals to stand up and make themselves heard in order to keep parking in sandown high street and many other places on the island FREE

Stop further parking charges on the Isle of Wight (again, 2026)

🚨 WE’RE BACK! 🚨
After being unexpectedly forced to close over the weekend thanks to a rather dramatic water leak 💦🙄, we’re happy to announce that we’ll be BACK OPEN TOMORROW, 6:30am–4:30pm! 🎉

We’ve still got a few bits to sort out, a little more work to do, and quite possibly enough mopping to last us a lifetime… 😂

But we’re keen to get back to doing what we do best — selling newspapers, handling your parcels 📦, And quite possibly pretending we’re completely over the trauma of the weekend! 😂

A massive THANK YOU to everyone for your patience, support and understanding while we’ve been getting everything back in order.

We can’t wait to see all your lovely faces again tomorrow!

Normal service resumes… assuming the building behaves itself this time! 🤞😂

See you in the morning! 👋

📢 IMPORTANT UPDATE – PJ NEWS 📰
Good evening everyone,

Firstly, we just want to say a massive thank you to everyone for your support, patience and understanding over what has been a very wet and difficult last 24 hours. ❤️

We also want to say a huge thank you to the amazing people who have helped us fix the leak and clear everything up. We genuinely couldn’t have got through the situation without your help, hard work and support. It really is appreciated more than you know. ❤️

We really do appreciate all the kind messages and support we’ve received, and we once again apologise for not being able to open.

We are heading in the right direction, but unfortunately we’ve made the difficult decision to remain closed as a shop tomorrow (Sunday 5th).

🤞 All being well, we plan to reopen on Monday 6th.

📰 Newspaper deliveries will go out as normal tomorrow (Sunday). We’re also very sorry to our loyal customers that we weren’t able to get our usual Saturday newspaper deliveries out.

Thank you again for your continued support, understanding and patience — it really does mean a lot to us.

We hope everyone has a lovely rest of the weekend, and we look forward to welcoming you all back on Monday. 😊

Thanks,
PJ News ❤️

🚨 IMPORTANT UPDATE – SHOP CLOSED THIS WEEKEND 🚨
Good evening everyone,

Unfortunately, we’ve had a substantial water leak at the shop this evening, which has resulted in the shop becoming flooded and, as you can imagine, a little waterlogged! 💧😔

For everyone’s safety, we’ve made the difficult decision that we won’t be able to open to customers this weekend while we work hard to get everything cleaned up, repaired and back to normal.

Our plan is to reopen Monday morning as usual. 🤞

📦 If you have a parcel with us, please don’t worry! All parcels will be safely held here over the weekend and will NOT be sent back, so there’s no need to panic.

We’re incredibly sorry for the inconvenience and completely understand that this may cause some disruption. We’ll be working as hard as possible over the weekend to get everything sorted and will keep you updated with any changes.

Thank you so much for your patience, understanding and continued support. ❤️

Fingers crossed we’ll see you all back to normal on Monday! 🤞
