Sopwith Veterans Hub (formerly Veterans Garage) is a friendly, supportive community for military veterans and emergency services personnel.

Like many organisations, Veterans Garage was sadly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, and with big changes in the hospitality industry and the rising cost of living, we took the opportunity to grow, adapt, and re-brand — while keeping our core purpose at heart.

Today, we continue our journey as SOPWITH VETERANS HUB.

Our goal is simple: to create a safe, welcoming space where people who have served can connect, feel supported, and access real, practical help. This includes:
• Friendly access to counselling and wellbeing support
• IT training and digital skills to build confidence and opportunity
• Free benefits and legal advice when it’s needed most
• Reducing social isolation and helping people feel part of a community again

Through our link with Sopwith Coffee Company, we also help members back into work or self-employment, offering opportunities in:
• Coffee shops
• Mobile coffee units
• Supported coffee franchise pathways

This group is about support, respect, and belonging — a place to share experiences, ask questions, and help one another move forward.

Some of you will remember our work with Veterans Garage — a project that gave veterans living with PTSD a safe space, support, and community. Sadly, Covid meant Veterans Garage couldn’t survive. 💔

But when one door closes, another opens… and we’re so excited to introduce Sopwith Coffee Company ☕🚀

This is more than just coffee. Here’s what we’re building:
✅ Jobs in our roasting factory, shops & event trailers
✅ Franchise opportunities so veterans can own their own Sopwith Coffee business
✅ Barista & business training to give the tools for success
✅ On-site counselling & IT rooms for ongoing support

We want to combat isolation, create opportunities, and bring people back together — with coffee at the heart of it all.

Project RECCE is hosting this special event to support our mission of empowering veterans through career mentoring, vocational training, and job placement programs. All proceeds will go towards funding our transition services, construction industry partnerships, and RECCE Pathway Course for veterans.

On the menu are juicy burgers with locally sourced meat, sweet corn, potato salad, and more! Quench your thirst with beer, cider, and other refreshing drinks. Satisfy your sweet tooth with delicious pie for dessert.

The funeral for Wayne Cheadle Hulme will be held on Thursday 14th Sept at Peel Green Crematorium 13:00.

There will be a gathering at the Catholic club in Irlam after the service.

RIP Wayne, a good man, see you in the re-org x
