What can we say?

The response to our new branding has been incredible.

I’ll be honest, I was a little nervous before launch. After taking our foot off the gas while we moved and got settled, I wondered whether people might have moved on or found another brand in the meantime.

But the way you’ve come back to the store has honestly blown us away.

I don’t think our fulfilment partners knew what hit them when the orders started flooding in. Nat and I have had a stressful few weeks getting the first batches made, finishing the website work, sorting stock and pulling everything together behind the scenes.

Seeing your orders come through has made every late night worth it.

We can’t thank you enough. Every order genuinely means a great deal to us, and we want you to know how much we appreciate your support.

I’ve been at my desk since about 7am today, working through the new website, product listings, SEO wizardry, and roughly 482 other jobs to get the new store ready for tomorrow evening.

In the morning, I’ll be driving the new stock over to our fulfilment partner, and we’re currently aiming for a 7pm relaunch.

One quick note: we simply ran out of time to include Beard Washes in this stock run. They will be back in stock very soon, hopefully within a couple of weeks at most.

I can see from the store metrics that quite a few of you have been trying to take a look today. It’s nearly ready, but not quite there yet. There are still a few finishing touches I’d like to make, time permitting.

For now, here’s a little sneak peek behind the digital curtain.

So we're totally in love with our new bottles and labels!

Labels arrived today, fresh ingredients arriving end of the week and the beginning of next week! New website is looking super swish, and we can actually start making again soon! We're getting there!

Hey all, Dave here with a proper update - I know it's been a while.

First things first: yes, we are absolutely still trading, and yes, more stock is on its way. We're waiting on packaging to arrive and then we'll be all hands on deck. We're hoping to be properly back up and running within a couple of weeks, but stock is still on the store and available to order should you wish.

Now, a few weeks ago I mentioned we'd be making some tough calls about the range going forward. We've spent a long time looking at five years of sales data and as much as it hurts, we've had to make some hard decisions. Losing our warehouse in Cornwall has forced us to be ruthless about what we can realistically store and ship. Everything has to earn its place, same as any other business.

So here's what made the cut, and why:

Navigator - Our freshest scent and a gateway into the range for so many of you. The spearmint and citrus combination has been winning new customers over for years and shows no sign of stopping.

Cargo - Sandalwood and bergamot. Warm, grounded, versatile. The kind of scent that works in every season and suits every beard. A quiet workhorse that everyone has always loved.

Admiral's Blend - Coffee and chocolate. Our most indulgent scent and consistently one of our top performers. If you know, you know.

Privateer - Dried fruits and vanilla. Rich, warm and deeply sophisticated. The reviews speak for themselves and this one has a loyal following that would never forgive us if we dropped it.

Erebus - Woody, citrus and perfumey. Our most complex scent and perhaps our most underrated. It rewards those who take a chance on it and those who do tend to stick around.

Newfoundland - Earthy, green and grounding. Our original scent in spirit and the one that feels most like Mariner Jack at its roots. It had to stay.

Beard Wash will also be returning! No soap blocks though, unfortunately. It is our intention to bring those back at some point, I genuinely don't know when though.

I won't pretend the cuts were easy. I personally love every scent we've ever made, there's a reason I chose each one. But this is the right range to carry forward and I'm genuinely excited about what's coming.

One more change worth mentioning. We're moving to a single size in both oils and balms. Oils stay at 30ml. Balms move to 50ml, down from 60ml, with pricing adjusted to reflect that. The smaller sizes just weren't shifting the way they used to. Early on, when we were still proving ourselves, people wanted to try before committing. These days you just go straight for it and honestly, that means more to us than you probably realise.

If your favourite didn't make the list, I'm genuinely sorry. Please do reach out and I'll do my best to help you find something you'll love just as much. I'm tied up during the day with work but I'm happy to chat via email or Discord in the evenings.

Big loves,

Dave

⚠️ HOME SHAVING IS KILLING BEARDS, AND IT'S UNNAUTICAL. ⚠️

Dave here, I turned 40 this week. You remember the early 2000s? The music industry was losing its mind over home taping and internet piracy. Stern warnings, dramatic campaigns, logos that haunted a generation. You wouldn't steal a car, and all that bo****ks.

Well, we've got our own crisis to address.

Every day, perfectly good beards are being lost to bathroom mirrors and cheap razors. The carnage is real. The statistics are grim. And frankly, it's an affront to seafarers everywhere.

This tee is our PSA. Wear it. Spread the word. Save a beard.

🪒💀 The Home Shaving Is Killing Beards tee is available soon!

New Packaging Update. Beard Oil labels are done, I've started on the Beard Balm labels, and we're considering getting some nice boxes to go with them. My old Photoshop and Illustrator tutor would be proud, I did pay attention and not just go to the pub, sometimes.

We're also eyeing up a return to the EU after a hiatus of many years. I'll need a couple of large drinks to navigate that minefield of legalisation and insurance, but it would be worth it.

That all ties into label designs as we need various pieces of information on the labels legally in most EU countries. We should know by the end of next week if that will be a thing we're moving forward on, it wont add time onto the project, thankfully.

A big maybe, but maybe, returning to the US market at some point. We need to scope out the legalisation changes in that market since we were last there. The Tangerine Tariffs are also something we unfortunately have to consider.

Very heavy few months ahead, we're working super hard behind the scenes to this new packaging into your hands ASAP. We'll be sharing new packaging images soon and when they are finalised.

Thanks all!

Hi Guys! So as you've probably noticed, it's been a bit quiet on here recently? The main reason is that I (Dave) have pretty much quit social media entirely. I'm not here to convince you to do the same etc but it's just something I thought would be best for me, my mental health, and my productivity.

While I believe I made the correct decision by how I am feeling now, the downside of this decision is that I forget to update the Mariner Jack page.

As such, the more updated way to get your Mariner Jack news is via our new Discord! I've made a dedicated channel on there with spaces to hang out, chat, play games and of course, update you with all the latest news on Mariner Jack.

I'll continue to update this page with bigger news regarding the rebrand (it's going very well btw) and anything necessary, but Discord will be more like this page used to be.

Hi Guys! We've had a few messages about stock levels on the store, mostly that stuff has sold out. We're really trying to find time to make more, particularly beard wash.

New packaging is progressing well. Dave is knee deep in making sure everything is legal and compliant, it's all super fun I'm sure you'd agree.

Loads of you have messaged about beard soap blocks. It's the same answer as before I'm afraid, no news on when they'll be back. We lost our making space when we moved to Manchester, along with the soap curing room. We're looking at alternatives as they were super popular.

Dave's main work is a little nuts right now, but we are trying to carve out some time in the evening and the weekends to get things back on track.

As always, thank you for your support. We genuinely mean it when we say that you've all changed our lives over the years.

All the best,

Nat (Mrs Jack)
