The Rugby Hotel

The Rugby Hotel At the beginning of the 19th Century the Three HorseShoes was one of the ten Inn's in Rugby and one of the few to open all year round.

HISTORY OF OUR HOTEL

The Three HorseShoes Hotel, Rugby acquired the status of the Inn during 1728, although the tradition of selling ale from the premises would have started long before this date...

Even allowing for an original construction date somewhat earlier than 1728, the general architectural character would suggest that the building was begun during the late Renaissance Period and could

specifically be described as Georgian (1702-1830). The 'Shoes' became the rendezvous for the excise officers who came to collect taxes...

In 1850, Mr and Mrs Williams, the 'Shoes' most famous owners, bought the business from Mr Thomas Chater. The Rugby Almanac of 1850 carried a full-page advertisement for 'The Horse Shoes Commercial and Family Hotel and Posting House'. After the death of her husband, Mrs Williams continued to run the hotel. It was in her cosy smoke room that on certain nights each week, Rugby's leading men would meet to discuss the town's affairs and smoke their church warden clay pipes. This gathering became known as 'The Horse Shoes Parliament' - the height of the Inn's influence on Rugby affairs. The Rugby Hotel now occupies this historic building and will continue to do so for many more hundreds of years! So whether it’s for pleasure or the services of a professional and experienced business environment you’re looking for, here at the unrivalled Rugby Hotel you will receive Rugby’s hospitality at its very best.

To be spoken in the style of David himself....

And here, in the heart of Sheep Street, we find the team at The Rugby Hotel… a remarkably well-organised ecosystem, quietly thriving from dawn until dusk.

Observe as Zach carefully replenishes the bar fridges — a vital ritual ensuring refreshments remain plentiful for thirsty travellers.

Nearby, Liz responds swiftly to sales calls, communicating with the speed and precision of a seasoned hospitality professional in her natural environment.

Richard, meanwhile, has migrated temporarily for warmer climates, leaving Paula to expertly cover the shifts and keep the operation moving without disturbance.

On the staircase, Kasia can be spotted carefully hoovering each step with remarkable focus — maintaining the pathways of the habitat to the highest possible standard.

In the corridors, Klaudia moves methodically from room to room, restoring order and harmony with quiet precision — an essential force in the ongoing upkeep of the ecosystem.

And tucked away in the office, we find Basil the hotel dog, deep in sleep and contributing very little to operations… yet somehow remaining an essential part of the ecosystem.

Meanwhile, Jodie the night porter slowly emerges from hibernation ahead of another evening’s activity, while Debbie continues her early morning breakfast preparations below.

And somewhere in the distance… Carl can be heard asking if anyone has replied to the emails yet.

And at the centre of it all… the team.

A thriving habitat built on tea, teamwork, and organised chaos.

Happy 100th birthday to the legend himself.

As our week in the life of housekeeping continues, we arrive at Thursday — where every great day starts the same way.

A quiet moment. A calm space. A cup of tea.

Klaudia always begins her day here — beside a 150-year-old trunk that’s seen more than its fair share of early mornings, and more cups of tea than anyone could count.

It’s a simple ritual, passed through years of housekeeping teams before her.

Because before the checklists, before the inspections, before the hotel comes to life… there’s a moment to pause.

And from that moment, everything follows — rooms prepared, standards upheld, every detail carefully considered.

They say all great things start with a cup of tea…

Here, it’s tradition.

As our week in the life of housekeeping continues, we arrive at Wednesday — where comfort is carefully layered into every stay.

By midweek, the rhythm is set. Rooms are flowing, standards are steady, and every detail begins to come together.

Egyptian cotton. High thread count linen. The fluffiest, perfectly folded towels.
Puffiest duvets. More pillows than you could possibly need — and then a few more, just in case.

Every layer designed for one thing… complete comfort.

Because the real luxury isn’t just how it looks — it’s how it feels the moment you sink into it.

Following our week in the life of housekeeping, we arrive at Tuesday — where standards are not just met, but verified.

What looks effortless is never accidental.

Every room passes through careful hands and considered eyes — not once, but multiple times.

Checked by our housekeeping team.
Refined under Klaudia’s watchful eye.
And completed with a detailed 15-point inspection by our Duty Manager.

Long before a guest steps inside, every surface has been questioned, every detail considered, every standard met without compromise.

Because true luxury isn’t just how a room looks…
It’s the confidence that nothing has been missed.

Every perfect hotel stay has a beginning most guests never see.

Before the arrivals. Before the check-ins. Before the first “wow” moments… there is a team working quietly in the background to reset the entire hotel.

This week, we’re going behind the scenes with our housekeeping supervisor Klaudia.

A full week in the life of our housekeeping team — the people who turn rooms into experiences, and standards into something you can feel the moment you walk through the door.

No spotlight. No noise. No staged moments. Just consistency, pride, and attention to detail… one room at a time.

Welcome to housekeeping.

Happy Birthday, Carl — the undisputed master of modern General Management.
Pictured here during the refurb, fully embracing his short-lived role as ‘site foreman’… tape measure in hand, hard hat on, and contributing at a level we’ve all come to expect.

A man who has somehow perfected the art of being both in charge and entirely absent from anything requiring actual effort.

It’s genuinely impressive how consistently things get done around here while you maintain such a strong commitment to non-interference.
Problems are solved, shifts are covered, chaos is managed… all while you’re operating at what can only be described as ‘strategic invisibility.’

You’ve turned delegation into a full-time philosophy, presence into an occasional cameo, and responsibility into something that naturally finds its way to everyone else.
And yet, against all logic, the place still functions — which really does raise questions no one wants answered too closely.

A true pioneer in achieving maximum authority with minimum involvement.
At this point, it’s not just management — it’s performance art.

Enjoy your birthday, Carl — you’ve definitely shown up for it, which feels on brand.

🇬🇧 St George’s Day at The Best on Sheep Street 🇬🇧

Today we quietly mark St George’s Day in a building that has stood at the heart of Sheep Street for over 300 years.

A place shaped by time, where original features still remain as part of its everyday character — including the hand-carved wooden heads that have watched over this building for generations, each one a reminder of the craftsmanship and history within these walls.

While the world outside has changed, inside we continue to offer a stay defined by comfort, character, and calm — with beautifully considered rooms that sit naturally within the building’s heritage.

When you’re here, there’s no need to go anywhere else.

☀️ BEST ON SHEEP STREET ☀️

The sun’s out.
The street’s calling.
And our burgers? They’re flying out the kitchen faster than we can plate them. 🍔🔥

Grab a seat, soak it up, and get stuck in.

No gimmicks. No fuss.
Just proper food, done right.
