Make sure your property is locked up, we caught this guy snooping around today. He let himself in the back garden and was trying doors. Driving a white belingo van, I have reported it to the police

With great sadness, we have made the difficult decision to close The Brown Trout on the 1st of February.

We have tried so hard to make it work, but the rising costs and overwhelming overheads mean that pubs are facing an increasingly uncertain future.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to those that have truly supported us 🥰 you know who you are. We have truly loved being part of this wonderful community and are incredibly grateful for the memories we’ve shared.

We remain hopeful that someone lovely will come along and breathe new life back into the pub, for the sake of the community it serves.

A huge and heartfelt thank you to Daniella and Noah, who have worked tirelessly and given so much to keep things going for as long as we have. We truly could not have done it without you both 💗

You can still find us at our sister pub, The Star in Matfield, where we’d love to welcome you for live music, quiz night, open mic and other events not to mention fabulous roasts, and our delicious homemade pies — plus catch our popular Friday fish offer there.

One final ask…please continue to support your local pubs. So many are facing closure — it really is “use it or lose it”
