Waiting Staff / Kitchen Assistant
The Woodman’s Stroke pub – Rothley, Leicestershire
Hours: 11:45am – 3:30pm | Monday to Friday
We’re on the lookout for a friendly, reliable and enthusiastic person to join our team here at The Woodies. This is a varied role combining front-of-house service with some light kitchen assistance, perfect for someone who enjoys good food, working as part of a team and getting stuck in wherever needed.
About us
We’re an old-school drinkers’ pub at heart, with a loyal local following and a laid-back atmosphere. While we’re all about great pints and good company, we also serve food at weekday lunchtimes between 12pm and 2:30pm.
We’re not a formal restaurant – we focus on simple, hearty homemade meals and classic bar snacks, all cooked fresh to order in our cosy kitchen. Everything is prepared by Ann-Marie, who runs a tight but friendly kitchen with plenty of passion (and great taste).
What you’ll be doing
• Serving food to our customers inside the pub, in the garden and on the patios (you’ll get your steps in!)
• Making sure customers feel welcome and looked after during their visit
• Helping Ann-Marie with the prep and plating of snack items like toasties and sandwiches
• Assisting with general kitchen cleanliness, including washing up during and after service
• Prepping for service – wrapping cutlery, setting out condiments and helping with salad prep
• Clearing tables and keeping the pub tidy and presentable throughout your shift
Who we’re looking for
While it’s not essential that you’ve got kitchen or waiting experience, you’ll need to be reliable, friendly and ready to work hard. This role might suit you if you:
• enjoy being on your feet and moving around for a few hours at a time
• are confident talking to customers and making them feel welcome
• are happy to muck in and help wherever needed – from food prep to clearing tables
• can follow hygiene and food safety guidance (we’ll show you the ropes)
• can make your own way to Rothley
• have the right to work in the UK
