The singles winter league will start this weekend (today and tomorrow) now instead of next. 13 holes up to 7 and across to 13 then in. Anyone wishing to play 18 can enter a general play for this weekend

Thanks to Isle of Bute Catering for catering on the night, and a special mention to wee Scazza Brown for being the hostess on the karaoke 🎤 get yer tickets to see her do her thing at stars in their eyes next month at Bute Yard.

Also the draw for the 4499 pairs winter league takes place on Sunday, there will be no more entries after 4pm. We currently have 23 teams entered, so if you want involved, get in touch.

Our annual prize giving will take place on Friday the 16th of October, at 7.30.

The clubhouse will be open for catering from 5.30.

All members are encouraged to attend especially prize winners. Family members and guests also welcome.

The presentation will be followed by darts flyers and karaoke.

After today’s meeting the following winter league formats have been decided.

4499 Zan Kreyser taxis pairs.

Groups of 4 depending on numbers, matchplay, play each other twice between the 24th of October and 6th of February.

Played over Saturday or Sunday at leisure.

18 holes handicap 3/4 course handicap off low man. (16 weeks to play 6 games approximately)

Top two qualify for knockouts plus best 3rd depending on numbers commencing 13th/14th February (champions league)

Bottom two/worst 3rd go into separate knockouts (europa league)

Entry £10 per player

Results to be sent to Simmy or Donnie after each game, with holes up etc to count towards final standings.

All games to go to the 18th hole during group stage for + - standings

On every Saturday and Sunday 13 holes 3/4 course handicap
£3 entry as no sponsor (6/8 best scores)

Overall winner
Then a division winner, weekly sweeps and 2s alternating between the 13th and 18th

Players can play both doubles game and enter singles at same time if they wish to, just means ball in the hole 1-7 then 13-18

The soup dragon will be on the stove both days with the odd special in there as well.

We have 18 teams already entered after today’s meeting, any further entries to be in to Simmy by next Sunday at the latest so we can get the group’s confirmed.

Yesterday we had the privilege of holding the Mikey Mcarthur Memorial golf day, sponsored by 4499 taxis, the Mcarthur family and individual sponsors.

Richard Murphy once again put on an excellently ran day, which included an array of prizes.

Winner on yet another wild and windy day was Port Bannantynes Matt McLean with 37 stableford points.

Well done Matt 👍🏻

Second place went to Robert Walker with 36 points which also featured a couple of costly no scores, beating Hughie Charker on the BIH into 3rd place.

Winner of the scratch prize was Iain Simpson with a 74, with Stevie McDonald in second on 75 and Michael Murty third on 77

The raffle on the day raised a considerable amount which will be in part used for a dart board, surround, lights and scoreboard at Roberts home club Port Bannatyne golf club, as last years raffle provided Rothesay with the same, to help encourage members and non members alike to use the clubs for social purposes.
