Following the successful relocation of Abbey Pharmacy to the former Boots Building on Effingham Street as part of Phase One of the Town Centre Health Hub, plans are now moving forward on Phase Two. This phase will see the remainder of the building transformed into a modern, flexible health hub bringing together a range of health and wellbeing services in one accessible location.

We welcome your feedback on current health provisions to help shape the second phase of the health hub and potential future health services.

There’s a new, free interactive accelerator for ambitious freelancers and founders, exclusively for people in South Yorkshire aged 18-30!

Whether you're already a trading business (running for up to 3 years) or just thinking about starting, this is a chance to meet like-minded people and established business owners. The programme is delivered mostly online, with just 3 days in person.

The programme is headed by Studio Self-Made who have used their experience of supporting founders and freelancers into creating a FREE accelerator commissioned by Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council and funded by Quickline.

Rotherham based businesses, this one could be for you✨

South Yorkshire’s Wage Subsidy Programme provides 13 weeks of wage support to help businesses grow while giving people aged 16 to 30 the experience, skills, and confidence to progress into sustained work💼

Funding is up to £6,000 which is enough to cover 36 hours per week and is paid in arrears after the end of the 13 weeks on submission of, a copy of wage slips and an invoice with purchase order number. A case study and exit report is also required📑

Employers must:
• Be a registered business or charity within South Yorkshire
• Have fewer than 250 employees
• Offer new roles expected to last more than six months
• Provide up to five placements

Employees must:
• Live in South Yorkshire
• Be eligible to work in the UK
• Be a Pathways to Work participant receiving support
Employees can’t be employed or receiving job-seeking benefits.

The job role must:
• Be a new role
• Cover a minimum of 16 hours per week
• Pay at least national minimum wage
• Provide employability support
• Require basic training
Employers will be reimbursed for wages paid if that participant leaves the role early. The latest job start date of a participant based on current funding is Monday 30 November 2026.
