Thankyou you magnificent wonderful people for attending tonight and making what is probably our final Halloween quiz at OTR an awesome night.

Coming to our sold out Halloween quiz this evening? Doors open a touch earlier than usual at 5.30pm; though the quiz kicks off around 7pm as ever (and as soon as everyone is seated and refreshed). We'll have grub available until 8pm when the kitchen closes for the night.

As with our annual Halloween quiz, there will be a prize for best fancy dress and we'll have some free nibbles for everyone to enjoy through the evening.

Two new additions to the menu from next week; pulled pork and vegan meatballs 🤤 The pulled pork will also be a pizza option.

From this Saturday and every other Saturday onwards, we'll be holding our new GYGO (Get Your Geek On) evenings!

These are family/under 18 friendly evenings with board games, card games, tournaments, upstairs table top gaming and more.

We'll be open until 10pm and booking is essential. Why is booking essential? Well, it enables us to plan staff accordingly and due to being family friendly, say no to random... often overly inebriated people wanting a cheeky pint and a chat with other patrons.

How do you book? In OTR itself, by DM or via https://overtherainbowcafebar.co.uk/pages/gygo . It's just £5 per table for the full night (effectively from 6pm until 10pm) and this gets you access to all our games. We'd very much like you to buy drinks too though so no bringing in your McDonalds shakes or four packs of Carling.

On the note of drinks, we'll have discounted specials each Saturday and geeky themed cocktails. Anyone who has been to our General Geekery nights knows the drill.

Children are more than welcome from open till close, but as with drunk people, we'll be asking them to respect others in the cafe-bar and not go wandering. Drunk children... though hilarious... will be asked to leave immediately.

This all also means that we'll now not be closing the cafe at 3.30pm on Saturdays! Food will also be served until 4.30pm with a smaller menu from 2.30pm when the pro chef leaves (think pizzas, bites etc.) Note - on quiz evenings, we'll be closing from 5pm'ish to allow for setup of our PA system etc.

Our next three GYGOs are 24/10, 07/11 and 21/11 with each open for bookings now! Keep an eye out for tournament news and upstairs table top gaming specific bookings will be available in November.

Oh and finally, our first GYGO this weekend is FREE.

Turns out putting together a brochure for a business you love is both easy and very difficult... and makes you want to reconsider your life choices 🤣

We've had a couple of parties asking us recently if we're still intending to sell OTR and we are indeed. We'll be on the market from early next year and our brochure will be available in the next couple of weeks. Here's a wee peek.

As we're going to great lengths to say, OTR will not be closing... it'll just be changing the faces behind the till. In the meantime, you'll have to put up with the hairy one and his overly long social media posts.

Current soup for today and tomorrow, French Onion with sourdough. Or upgrade to cheese covered toast and/or bacon.

Our chef Owen hates the amount of time it takes to chop, sweat and caramelise the onions.

Let's sell out and make it a regular thing. Owen will LOVE it.

Sooooouuuuuuuuuup news.

We've sold out of today's Harissa Spiced Carrot, Sweet Potato and Coconut soup. Next on tomorrow is Pea and Mint, then we'll have French Onion and maybe a cheeky Butternut Squash on Saturday.

Just £5 with a slice of sourdough or a petit pain, then additional upgrades depending on the soup such as thick cut bacon and cheese on toast.

Eat in or takeaway and it's the hearty lunch your stomach needs as we stride into Autumn!

Our current soup is pea and mint while stocks last. Here served with thick cut bacon and a slice of toasted sourdough 😋

A reminder, all our soups are made in house and are available to eat in or takeaway!
