We are very much in cake season and our current bakes are a gluten free banoffee and a vegan/dairy free caramel chocolate.

We've also packed our stand with some new limited edition Autumnal cupcakes! Where to start with pumpkin spice latte, ultimate chocolate overload, raspberry and lime, rhubarb and custard, hazelnut chocolate truffle and smores...

A little update on the below post.

Thankyou to those who've sent expressions of interest through to us. It's lovely to hear people appreciate OTR and want to take it off our hands!

On that note, we've had a few people come into the cafe or drop comments on the original post expressing concern that we're either closing entirely or that everything will change when we sell. Neither are totally true.

Firstly, we're definitely not closing and OTR will be open as normal until we sell the business. We're having a tinier rebrand than initially expected, but everything else will remain the same (or in fact better) well into 2027.

Secondly, a couple of the parties who have expressed interest have already told us that they don't want to change a thing about the place (including the name.) While we cannot guarantee this will be the case eventually, there's a strong chance of it having the same vibe and welcoming feeling. Unfortunately though Eddie, we will not be having an Interview Panel of customers to decide who are the right people to take the reins.

Regardless, nothing will change until 2027 - so you're stuck with big old hairy chops behind the till for the time being. We can only apologise for that.

More exciting stuff on the way in the next month, so keep 'em peeled for announcements in the next week or so.

It's events like yesterday that make our decision to sell the cafe-bar next year all the more bittersweet.

An afternoon tea bridal shower with a particularly lovely group in the day, followed by a quiz and karaoke in the evening with the usual bunch of magnificent reprobates. Thankyou to the latter for being patient with our annoying technical issues.

Highlights of the evening included the winners/runners up all getting top hats, Sam's rendition of Thankyou Paige For The Cocktails (to Thankyou For The Music) and the many many arguments over quiz answers. Anyone wanting to have a go at home can do the Guess the Musical from the Cocktail Cryptic Clue round attached.

Side note, but thanks to those people who have enquired about taking over OTR. Anyone still waiting for a response will get a reply in the next 24 hours.

Ever fancied owning a cafe-bar of your own? Maybe one that's similar to Over the Rainbow? Well, next year you'll get an opportunity when, with heavy heart, we put OTR up for sale!

We love and adore the place, but with Yella Brick Road closing, we won't have a shop next door which was initially the whole point of us opening.

So this is just a heads up in case you want to express your interest now for when we pull the trigger and say goodbye. If so, drop an email to [email protected]

Rest assured, it's business as usual for months and months yet, and we'll keep running the gaff until we wave bye to it.
