There’s only 2 weeks to go until our May Garden Festival!

We will have great live music all day, folk music in the early afternoon, the amazing Ripon City Brass Band bringing the ABBA classics, plus DJ Greggo spinning the best funk & soul. There will be hearty food, plenty of drinks and a cosy fire pit for toasting marshmallows!

Gather your folks, spread the word and come and celebrate with us!

It will be our last Sunday Lunch this weekend as we head into a (hopefully) glorious British summer. Don’t worry, roasts’ll be back in autumn.

It’s been so lovely seeing new friendly faces filling the pub every Sunday and we will miss our roasts, BUT we look forward to sharing our more summery dishes with you next week.

**The Black Lion Petanque Club is Here!**

As many of you know, the Black Lion has always been about bringing our community together — and now we’re excited to bring part of that original vision to life!

Thanks to the fantastic efforts of our landscape volunteers, our very own pétanque pitch is ready to go. It’s something that was in the pub’s original business plan, and we’re thrilled to finally make it happen.

Now all we need is **you**.

We’re looking to start a **friendly, sociable (with just a touch of competition!) pétanque club**, meeting weekly at the pub - date TBC. Whether you’ve played before or have no idea what you’re doing — it really doesn’t matter. This is all about having a laugh, meeting people, and enjoying a relaxed game together.
