Talbot Taphouse a pub as it used to be The Talbot Taphouse is a traditional Victorian ‘flat iron’ shaped pub. The Talbot Taphouse is a little different.

Built as a Shipstone’s alehouse, to serve the thirsty community of local miners and steelworkers, it had a reputation as the best cellar in Ripley. Our ales are cooled on the original stone stillage, designed to keep cask ale in perfect condition long before refridgeration was commonplace. It is the perfect place to celebrate our national drink, cask conditioned ale in all its guises. Local real a

les, served alongside all that it interesting, exciting and challenging - including traditional ciders, quality continental and locally brewed lagers, quirky Belgium ale and hop-charged American microbrewed beers, served from the bottle, cask or keg. It is as a pub used to be, serving a full pint of locally brewed beer in an environment where conversation rules, a place to sit comfortably with a pint and the paper or to meet friends - new and old.

Did you know The Talbot isn’t just an unusually shaped pub

The building is a traditional Victorian “Flat iron” Style pub, that distinctive narrow shape is part of what makes The Talbot so recognisable in Ripley

And judging by this old photo, it’s been part of the landscape for quite a while.🍺

Plenty has changed over the years… but it’s still The Talbot.

Grey, windy and miserable outside…. Considerably better in here. 👀

The first pint of the day is away (American five hop from Blue Bee at 4.3%). And that can only mean one thing.

Friday at the talbot is underway. 🍻

There is plenty more pouring across our 16 lines and a widely stocked fridge and we’re ready for Friday at The Talbot Taphouse, Ripley.

🍺MISERABLE OUTSIDE, LOVELY AT THE TALBOT 🍺

Cold, damp and miserable out there… which sounds like the perfect excuse to get yourself tucked into a proper pint at The Talbot 👀

A couple of fresh pours have landed, Jaipur is back for more, and Kirin Ichiban is still here to too… although when it’s gone, who knows when it’ll be back.

New Pours:
🍺 Citra Rat by Ossett Brewery at 3.4%
🍺 Mosaic GF Pale Ale by Arbour at 4.0%

And that’s only part of what’s pouring.

We’ve also got more Jaipur on, Kirin Ichiban still available for now, and more Ossett Brewery coming soon 😋

The bank holiday weekend is in full swing at The Talbot, and we’ve got a few fresh additions hitting the bar.

New pours:

🩵Weightless - RedWillow brewery - 4.2%
🐀 Bad Rattitude - Rat brewery - 5.0%
🧡Jaipur - Thornbridge - 5.9%

And that’s only part of what’s pouring.

There is plenty more across the bar plus a fridge full of cans if you fancy something a little different 🍺

So weather your sticking with an old favourite or trying something new there is plenty to work your way through this Bank Holiday Sunday.

Kicking off Day two of the Bank holiday and the changes are already happening 🍻

We’ve already had a few swaps on the bar with Oh cousin merle and little fury from Pentrich Brewing Co. And pub favourite Zoo from Ashover Brew Co making appearances.

And there is still more to come…👀

Keep an eye out for weightless from Red Willow Brewery. And some on the floor Juice Jaipur from Thornbridge Brewery landing on the bar soon.
