Friday Nights at The Cellar

This Friday, we are excited to welcome back the exceptionally talented Marco Di Gaetano

When Marco took to the stage last time, he transformed the room with a performance that was as captivating to watch as it was to hear. Using his loop pedal as a creative powerhouse, he weaves together layers of guitar, vocals, and percussion in real time, crafting intricate arrangements from the ground up. Each new layer adds colour and atmosphere, gradually building into a sound far bigger than one musician alone. Seeing Marco create these rich, dynamic soundscapes live is a truly unforgettable experience.

With more outstanding artists scheduled each week, there is always something special to look forward to at The Cellar.

Avengers, assemble!

With great power comes great responsibility… and with great quiz teams comes great bragging rights!

The heroes of our community have already been assembling - now it is your turn.

Join us for our Quiz Night on behalf of Bring Sam Home and help us play a small part in supporting an incredible local family facing an extraordinary challenge.

As Spider-Man reminds us, “No matter how buried it gets, or lost you feel, you must promise me that you will hold on to hope.”

Following a severe traumatic brain injury, Sam is receiving specialist neuro-rehabilitation in London. When he is ready to return home, his family will need extensive adaptations to their house and specialist equipment to support his complex needs.

In the face of this challenge, our community has shown what true heroes look like. We continue to be amazed by the support from fantastic local businesses and venues such as The ElmTree Ringwood, along with everyone who has donated, shared, volunteered, organised, and cheered from the sidelines.

As Superman said, “There is a superhero in all of us. We just need the courage to put on the cape.” Every act of kindness, no matter how small, helps move this mission forward.

Whether you are a quiz mastermind, a Marvel expert, a DC devotee, or simply there for the laughs, every answer, every raffle ticket, every donation and every pound raised helps support the mission to Bring Sam Home.

The Forest Kept Its Secret

On 2 August 1100, King William II - known to history as Rufus for his ruddy complexion - rode into the New Forest, the vast royal hunting ground created by his father, William the Conqueror. Among the noblemen accompanying him was Sir Walter Tyrrell, a renowned Norman knight and archer.

As the hunt spread beneath the ancient oaks, the king pursued game into the fading light. Then came the moment that entered legend. According to the accepted account, Tyrrell loosed an arrow at a stag; the shaft deflected and struck the king in the chest. William Rufus fell from his horse and died almost instantly.

Panic followed. The king’s companions scattered, and Tyrrell fled to the Continent before any inquiry could be made. His swift departure fuelled suspicion, though he always denied responsibility, insisting he neither saw the king at the moment of death nor fired the fatal shot.

The truth has never been settled. Some saw a tragic hunting accident; others suspected conspiracy. Rufus’s younger brother, the future Henry I, moved with striking speed to secure the treasury and seize the crown, deepening the mystery.

No verdict remains. The forest kept its secret. Whether Tyrrell was an innocent man caught in a fatal mischance or a figure linked to a darker design is unknown.

Today, the story lingers in the quiet glades of the New Forest - a haunting blend of history and legend, where a single arrow changed the course of the English crown and left behind an enigma that endures to this day.

Family Break

We will be taking a short family break over the coming days. As a family-run business, this does mean we will need to close briefly while we recharge and spend some time together.

We are incredibly grateful for your continued support, loyalty, and understanding. We always consider ways to remain open, but we would never want to offer anything less than the warm welcome and experience you have come to expect from us.

Welcome to Our New Home

Originally known as Tyrrells Ford, Tyrrells Park began life as an elegant hunting lodge, complete with its own bothy and kennels, quietly reflecting the sporting traditions and rural character that have long defined this beautiful corner of the New Forest.

Over the years, the house evolved with grace and gentle care, always preserving the warmth, charm and sense of character that made it so distinctive. This August, following an extensive and thoughtfully considered restoration, Tyrrells Park enters a new chapter - one that honours its heritage while embracing a more refined and contemporary style of hospitality.

Family-owned and independently run, Tyrrells Park has been created with the belief that true hospitality lies not in grandeur, but in atmosphere, generosity and thoughtful detail. Set within eight acres of peaceful gardens and grounds on the edge of the forest, the house offers something intentionally different from the traditional hotel experience. Here, guests are encouraged not simply to stay, but to settle in, slow down and feel entirely at home.

At the heart of the house lies The Cellar, our Wine & Cheese Bar, set to become the centre of the Tyrrells Park experience. Beneath soft lighting and in intimate surroundings, guests are invited to enjoy beautifully prepared food, exceptional wines and the quiet pleasure of unhurried conversation.

Tyrrells Park is not simply somewhere to stay. A house reimagined, it is a destination in its own right - devoted to effortless comfort, beautifully relaxed dining and warm, attentive hospitality, offering the rare luxury of feeling entirely removed from the pace of everyday life.

Dear Diary,

Remember to book the Chick Flicks Quiz Night… And yes, before you ask… it’s going to be so fetch.

One minute we’ll be bending and snapping our way through Legally Blonde (“What, like it’s hard?”), the next we’ll be serving full Clueless energy (“Ugh, as if!”), while someone in the corner screams “YOU GO GLEN COCO!” like it’s the answer to every question.

Honestly, if you can’t quote Mean Girls from start to finish, can you even sit with us?

There’ll be more drama than The Notebook in the rain, more questionable life choices than Bridget Jones's Diary after two Chardonnays, and enough pink outfits to make Elle Woods cry happy tears.

So cancel your plans, tell your friends “I’m just a girl, standing in front of a quiz master, asking them to ask easier questions,” and prepare for a night that’s hotter than Regina George’s burn book.

And while we’re busy reliving our main character moments, we’re also raising money for an incredible cause. Bowel Research UK funds life-changing research into bowel cancer and other bowel diseases. In the UK, more than 750,000 people live with serious bowel conditions, and over 17,400 people die from bowel cancer every year, making it the second deadliest cancer in the UK.

So grab your Plastics and your emergency lip gloss because supporting bowel research while quoting chick flicks all night? That’s hot.

Get in loser, we’re going quizzing.
