We are a family run country pub, opening spring 2013. Completing our journey and returning to our roots... What a destination it is. Nestled in the heart of a beautiful village, Gilling West - Richmondshire, bordering the Yorkshire Dales. Our vision is to blend the modern with the traditional and provide a platform to showcase the region...

Local produce, local products, local people. Provenance and quality is key to everything we do. Serving excellent, locally produced artisan ales and craft lagers. Some of the world’s best bottled beers and excellent wines, from the finest growers. All expertly kept by our cellar-man. Our drinks are accompanied by a creative menu. All dishes are lovingly prepared using traditional, local ingredients of the highest quality...fully traceable to our producers. We believe a pub is about more than the food and drink it serves. It is about the welcome, comfortable surroundings, conversation, ambience & atmosphere... A pub is about family, friends, the people and the interaction of society around it. We said we wanted to showcase the region and its products, this includes our artists, sculptors, craft workers and musicians. Above the open fire and in the corner of our stable yard, you will find a diverse and distinctive range of artwork, photography, sculptures and crafts, epitomizing the region’s talent. All of which can be purchased as a memory of your own journey to the region...

Finally finished refreshing the rooms and I can’t stop thinking about the next one.
Went for that moody, calm vibe we love: deep charcoal walls, crisp grey tiles, matte black fixtures, warm walnut wood touches and big mirrors to make everything feel open and clean.
Every single detail has been thought about — from the powerful shower that actually gets hot quickly, to the heated towel rail that’s a game-changer in winter, right down to the little soaps and the Highland cow artwork that just makes you smile.
These spaces feel like a proper little escape now. Quiet, modern, super comfortable… exactly the kind of place we’d want to stay in myself.

Winter hush in our little Mediterranean courtyard at Stable Yard Rooms 🌿❄️
Right now, in the depths of February, it’s all quiet and bare – just the promise of green tucked away under the frost. But come summer, this sheltered stone hideaway bursts into life.
Our fig, kiwi, pear, and olive trees wake up and fill the space with lush leaves, sweet scents, and (if the British sun plays nice) even some fruit. It’s like having a tiny slice of the Med right here in our Yorkshire stable yard.
Not in full bloom yet… but watch this space. Summer’s going to be magic 🍐🥝🫒🍈
