Crawdaddy Club Richmond

Crawdaddy Club Richmond THE CRAWDADDY CLUB - RICHMOND IS BACK!! The legendary Crawdaddy Club first made its mark at the Station Hotel opposite Richmond Station in the early 1960s.

As demand soared to see bands like The Rolling Stones, The Yardbirds, and Manfred Mann, the club relocated to the Richmond Athletic Ground next to Old Deer Park. Revived in 2012 by Mike and Sylvie Rivers, the Crawdaddy Club has spent over a decade bringing top-tier blues and rock artists back to Richmond. While continuing to host events at the Athletic Ground, we have now expanded beyond the venue

, keeping live music thriving across the borough. Now run by a dedicated team of volunteers, the Crawdaddy Club operates as a charitable non-profit, committed to preserving Richmond’s rich musical heritage while championing the future of live music. Join us and be part of the story—The real home of Rhythm and Blues in Richmond upon Thames.

Tim's storied career is one for the history books with three solo albums all packed with amazing songs, his long collaboration with Crawdaddy alumnus Paul Stewart of the Others, and of course his stint in Smile, the band that eventually became Queen. He's going to be playing songs from across his history, the occasional cover version carefully chosen of course, interspersed with stories that you want to hear.

In support we have Dave Stone and friends, a great songwriter in his own right and a familiar face on the West London scene, as part of Yabooty and other great bands. All this for £14+fees? It's a bargain!

On June 19th Tim Staffell will be reprising the amazing show he put on last year at St Pancras Old Church. That event was a sell out, no surprise, it's the first time he's taken a retrospective look at a career that has included Smile, solo albums like AMiGo, a long term collaboration with former Others member, Paul Stewart and so much more... When he joins us on the 19th it will be the first time he has reprised that performance, creating something special in the small and intimate Wi******er Room at the The Turk's Head, Twickenham where he'll be joined onstage by a superb band, many of them familiar faces to club regulars, and all of them superb musicians.

You can get advance tickets from: https://wegottickets.com/event/689293 and trust us you want to do it now. After all this is the man who put the wheels in motion that ended up creating Queen. Check out this video of his St Pancras show and you'll see why we're excited!

While the world remembers how The Rolling Stones and The Yardbirds cut their teeth at the Crawdaddy Club, our true blues aficionados always speak of the third legendary house band to hold down the fort: The Others.
Formed just down the road by a group of rebellious Hampton schoolmates, The Others were the epitome of the 1960s Thames Valley rhythm and blues boom. They did not just follow in the footsteps of the Stones; they blew the roof off the place with a fierce, garage-band energy and a blistering cover of Bo Diddley’s "Oh Yeah" that became an instant local anthem and their only single. For a glorious moment in 1964, they were the hottest ticket in West London, with queues snaking right down the street.
Though life, school exams, and parental pressure pulled the original lineup apart far too soon, the Crawdaddy spirit never truly left them. When they stepped back onto our stage last year, it was magic. Decades seemed to melt away the second the first chords struck. Seeing original members Paul Stewart and Pete Hammerton reunited, joined by the iconic Tim Staffell, was a masterclass in timeless rock and roll. The room was absolutely packed, the energy was electric, and the sweat was practically dripping from the walls just like the old days at the Athletic Ground. There were even people in the audience who were there and dancing in the heady days of their first time around.
The incredible success of that night proved that the Crawdaddy's revival is about something much larger than simple nostalgia. It is about a community, a shared history, and a passion for live music that still binds West London together.
