SATURDAYS ARE BACK.
Another summer of DJs at Penelope, every Saturday from 6pm.

There’s something magic about these summer days. Great people, incredible music, vinyl, natural wine, craft beer, Rachel’s small plates and a bar buzzing from the first record to the last. We’ve invited some of our favourite selectors and vinyl DJs to soundtrack the summer in Ramsgate. A post-beach hangout that often turns into a party, free entry as always.

Just documenting what might be the greatest grilled cheese toastie ever made 😄

Not all toasties are created equal.

Ours starts with fresh sourdough from Viking Bakehouse, cheese from Cheesemakers of Canterbury, Netherend butter, Perelló pickle and guindilla, finished with a pinch of Celtic sea salt. This one was made with Kingcott Blue.

We skip the dippy stuff. The pickle brings all the tang you need, and makes the whole thing feel a bit more substantial.

One between two is lovely with a wine, but one to yourself is divine 😁

We do them whenever we’re open. Pop in and give one a try.

Our Emily’s leaving! 😢

Since day one, she’s been slinging natural wine at Penelope and has been part of the family for almost three years. We’re properly gutted to see her go 🥲

Great people make the world go round, but they’re also hard to find. We’ve been lucky enough to have a few of them pass through our doors 🙏and Emily is certainly one of them.

It’s been a pleasure watching her journey here. Friendships have been made 🤝 vintages have come and gone, loads of toasties have left the kitchen (Toastiegate 😜), and countless wines have been explored🍷

In honesty, we feel like proud parents, sad to see her leave, but grateful to have shared part of her journey. Watching someone grow, build lasting friendships and evolving into a new chapter is a very special thing.

Wishing you all the success in the world . Go get ’em ❤️

Rachel began at Ciciolina in Melbourne before helping open London restaurants Polpetto and Spuntino. She has also cooked at London favourites Towpath Cafe and Quality Chop House, and locally at Bottega Caruso, Sargasso and Mori Mori.
