Dear Friends,

Please note the funeral arrangements for our Brian (Barney) Leyland below.

Barney's funeral will take place on Friday 9th October at 1 pm at:-

Leyland Methodist Church, 9 Turpin Green Lane, Leyland, PR25 3HA.

Followed by a Private Burial - Family Only.

Bri's Bash (his words) will be at the Cavendish Arms, Sandy Lane, Brindle, PR6 8NH, which will be going on all afternoon, everyone is very welcome.

Please note that The Cavendish will be closed for food and the general public on this date as we come together to remember our much-loved friend and colleague, Barney.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly request donations to Derian House Children's Hospice or St Catherine's Hospice. Donations can be made by clicking on the link below, for his "muchloved" tribute page or scanning the QR Code, or care of Iain Wilde Funeral Directors 01772 902345.

Dear friends,

We are very saddened to inform you of the passing of Brian “Barney” Leyland, our much loved colleague, friend and boss, the thought of everyone on our team are with Bernadeen and the family at this difficult time.

Barney together with Nick, came to The Cavendish in 2014 and worked with a great team to build The Cavendish Arms into what it is today.

Barney had a great welcome for all our customers, and was never short of good humour and whit.

Every member of the team at The Cavendish appreciate what a privilege it was to work alongside such a warm, kind and friendly leader.

He will be truly missed and never forgotten 💔

If you thrive in a fast-paced environment, enjoy leading by example, and take pride in delivering exceptional customer service, we'd love to hear from you.

What You'll Be Doing

Leading and supporting the front-of-house team during busy shifts.

Running smooth, efficient service while maintaining high standards.

Welcoming guests, building relationships with our regulars, and ensuring every visitor has a fantastic experience.

Motivating and mentoring team members to deliver outstanding hospitality.

Maintaining a calm, organised approach during busy service periods.

What We're Looking For

Previous experience in a busy pub or restaurant environment.

A confident and reliable leader with excellent communication skills.

A friendly, outgoing personality with a genuine passion for hospitality.

The ability to stay calm under pressure and lead from the front.

A positive attitude and commitment to providing first-class customer service.

Today marks the end of an era for our Cavendish team as we say farewell, after 3 years, to the gentleman that is Ricky, who is returning home to India to be with his family.

Kind-hearted, hardworking, and always enthusiastic, Ricky has become a hugely valued part of our kitchen team over the past three years and will be greatly missed by us all.

Thank you for everything you’ve brought to the team, Ricky — your positivity, dedication, and friendship have meant a lot to everyone here.

We all wish you and your family nothing but happiness, success, and good health for the future.
