On 21 October 1966, disaster struck the small south Wales mining village of Aberfan

A colliery spoil tip collapsed and slid down the mountain, engulfing Pantglas Junior School and a row of terraced houses

A total of 116 children and 28 adults were killed

A memorial garden now sits on the site of the former school, where those who lost their lives are remembered
