A huge congratulations to Alfie Guy on successfully completing his CITB Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Accessing Operations and Rigging (Scaffolding).

This qualification has been achieved through on-site assessment, practical experience, and the successful completion of a comprehensive portfolio demonstrating competence, knowledge, and commitment to the scaffolding industry.

Whilst this is a fantastic personal achievement for Alfie, it also represents a massive milestone for Whittaker Scaffold Ltd.

Alfie is the very first apprentice to come through our business and achieve his NVQ qualification, making this a proud moment not only for him but for the company as a whole. From joining us as a trainee scaffolder to becoming NVQ qualified, his journey reflects the opportunities available within WSL for those willing to work hard and develop their skills.

This achievement is a clear indication of the direction our company is heading. We are committed to investing in people, creating opportunities for the next generation of scaffolders, and building a highly skilled workforce for the future.

Watching Alfie grow in confidence, knowledge and ability throughout this process has been a pleasure, and we couldn’t be prouder of what he has achieved.

Another demanding week nearly wrapped up at WSL, but the lads have truly broken the back of it. With temperatures soaring across the South Coast, everyone has played their part to keep the company moving efficiently and safely.

From the operatives out on site delivering the work, to the yard men loading lorries late into the evening and making sure every vehicle is ready to roll first thing in the morning, the effort behind the scenes never goes unnoticed.

This week has consisted of a large amount of repeat work for our solar clients, alongside ongoing works at Portsmouth FC’s Fratton Park stadium — a project we’re looking forward to showcasing properly when the time is right.

The heat this week has been no joke, so extra precautions have been taken across all sites with increased hydration, sun cream, and regular checks throughout the day to make sure the team stay safe while still delivering for our clients.

Despite the conditions, job lists have continued getting completed, standards have stayed high, and the team have pushed through professionally all week.

Massive credit to every single lad involved.

Another Portsmouth HMO project underway for WSL

This scaffold consists of full access around the property along with a beam section installed to the rear elevation, allowing roofing works to proceed safely and efficiently while maintaining clear access below.

From tight access and live residential areas to keeping projects moving on schedule, the lads continue delivering week in week out.

Monday – Friday smaller works on WSL

This week’s smaller works package kept the boys in blue moving across a wide range of projects throughout the South Coast.

From solar installs and hoist supply on busy high streets requiring safe and efficient public access management, to new build extensions, roofing works for both new and existing clients, as well as specialist access for log burner flue installations — another solid week of varied scaffolding completed to the WSL standard.

No matter the size of the project, the focus always remains the same:

Another successful timber frame project completed by the boys in blue for a valued client down in Somerset.

Despite a fair bit of mileage from our yard, the team still delivered the project efficiently and ahead of schedule — proving once again that good planning, reliable operatives, and the right attitude make all the difference.

This project consisted of:

🔹 2 timber frame dwellings
🔹 Large garage structures to both plots
🔹 Multiple gable sections erected
🔹 Loading bays installed to both houses and garages
🔹 Safe and efficient access maintained throughout the build programme

At WSL we understand that timber frame projects move quickly, so scaffold contractors need to keep pace, adapt when required, and maintain standards without delaying the build.

A solid effort from all involved and another quality project completed safely and professionally.

A packed 4-day week back for WSL

From new solar installs on industrial units for a new client, alongside continued works for our regular solar clientele, to multiple roofing projects completed for repeat customers across the South Coast.

This week also saw:
🔹 A new HMO client install completed
🔹 A revisit to Oakhampton for live site adaptions
🔹 Adaptions carried out at Portsmouth FC captain’s house
🔹 A brand new timber frame site started in Somerset — which we’ll be showcasing next week 👀

One project this week also meant more than business.
WSL stepped in last minute, free of charge, to help support a local situation and open doors for future works within the community. Proud to be able to give back when needed.
