RBL to PSC

The ‘Portland Social Club’ is the reincarnation of the former ‘Portland Royal British Legion Club’.

In 2017, the Club members had a ballot to determine if the Club should disaffiliate from the Royal British Legion. The members voted in favour of disaffiliation, and in early 2018, the Club was re-branded as the ‘Portland Social Club’.

Almost immediately, member numbers swelled; such was the support for an all new members Club for the Isle and Royal Manor of Portland. Whilst the Royal British Legion was no longer a part of the Club, The RBL Branch Committee still hold their meetings at the Club and were very welcome to do so. The new Club committee insisted that the new Club would always support the Poppy Appeal and Remembrance services.

First task for the new Committee was to ensure the Club was stable financially. The amazing support of the members old and new brought, not only a new lease of life to the Club, but also a great positivity.
