*Pulpit press release*
Local developer Koori Limited’s eagerly awaited proposal for the regeneration of the Pulpit Inn at Portland Bill, Portland, Dorset has now been submitted to Dorset Council.
The proposal was developed in conjunction with Thrive Architects and Armstrong Rigg planning consultants. It has come forward after 2 years of design planning and it is underpinned by a comprehensive public consultation programme, which included two rounds of public consultation, a presentation to the Portland Town council and a pre-application to Dorset Council, along with deliberations with key stakeholders.
Malcolm Curtis for the developer said “ Progressing a regeneration of the Pulpit which sits in such a stunning location as Portland Bill, perhaps the pinnacle of the Jurassic Coast, brings its own set of unique challenges and responsibilities. We have taken time to fully understand and reflect on the unique context of the Pulpit. Our plans, if approved, will save the Pulpit as an identified community asset, and will meet the recognised needs and demands of this unique location”.
The Plans are to remove the dilapidated ramshackle buildings and replace them with a sympathetically designed, fit-for-purpose public house, including a restaurant, bar, and self-catering holiday accommodation. The proposal will not only go a long way to meet a recognised need to support activity holidays on the island, but also secure a modern and sustainable community facility that is fit for the 21st century.
