A New Chapter for The George Plympton
We’re delighted to confirm that a new permanent tenant will be taking over the George Inn on Monday 28 September.
As you know we originally stepped in on a temporary basis with St Austell Brewery to keep the George open while a permanent tenant was found. It has been a pleasure to look after the pub during that time, and we’re thrilled to be supporting the handover as it moves into its next chapter.
The new tenant will introduce themselves and announce their plans in due course. We will be passing over details of future accommodation and function bookings, and they will contact those customers directly to discuss their arrangements.
For now, new accommodation and function bookings remain on hold while we complete the handover.
We’d like to extend a huge thank you to our wonderful team, customers and the wider community for all your support during our time at the George. It’s been a real pleasure getting to know you all, and we’re grateful to everyone who has helped us look after this much loved pub.

*Why are you guys leaving?*
We took on the George under a temporary arrangement with St Austell Brewery to keep it open while a permanent tenant was found. With that tenant now ready to take over, we’re supporting the handover.
*Who is taking over, and what are their plans?*
The new tenant will introduce themselves and share their plans in due course. We’ll leave those announcements to them.
*I already have a room or function booked. What happens now?*
We will pass your booking details to the new tenant, who will contact you directly to discuss and confirm your arrangements. If you have an urgent query before the handover, please contact the current team.
*Can I make a new accommodation or function booking?*
New bookings remain on hold during the handover. We’ll share an update when arrangements are confirmed.
*Will opening hours, food or events change?*
The new tenant will announce their plans. Until then, please contact the current team with any questions about your visit.
*What does this mean for your other pubs?*
There’s no change to our other pubs. Each is managed individually with its own team, and they’ll continue as usual. This handover relates only to the George, where our role was always to look after the pub while a permanent tenant was found.
