As you know I don't use Facebook much, but I couldn't let today go past without acknowledging that tomorrow it will be 10 years since I got the news (whilst away on holiday) that The Voodoo Lounge Plymouth was getting closed down earlier than expected and being boarded up by the landlords. Devastating for my family and I, our staff, the promoters who had events booked in, not to mention our awesome customers. A huge loss for Plymouth's underground music scene. Can't believe it's been a decade! Although, with all my grey hairs, I guess it makes sense haha. So many fond memories of a truly unique place! I'm incredibly busy at the moment, and don't see that letting up anytime soon, but it would be great to have a voodoo reunion sometime! Big love voodoo massive! ❤️

What a brilliant counter protest we had yesterday. Every single one of us should be proud. I think at our peak we numbered the best part of 300 (definitely 250) and they were maybe 150, but there numbers quickly dwindled to about a hundred while we were still about 250. As the evening went on we were still 150 when they were down to there last 30, and by the end they had half a dozen and we were still 80+. Whose streets? Our streets!

We celebrate this battle victory but the war is far from over, we cannot afford to get complacent and we still need to grow. Keep talking to your families, friends, neighbours, work colleagues, class mates, spreading our anti-racist message and exposing Flag Force as the fascist led, fascist financed, racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic movement that it is. These people are scum and we can't give them an inch!

Still, we smashed it yesterday, it had the perfect balance of anti-racist chanting, with music, singing and dancing that gave it an uplifting street festival atmosphere. Loved every minute of it.

To speak out for me

Pastor Martin Niemöller's words are crucial to remember at the moment. Far right, so-called patriots have started attacking left wing meetings, not to mention racist attacks and abuse of other oppressed minorities. This whole flag raising movement isn't about pride in England or Britain it's about building a street movement of fascists just like Moseley and Hi**er did. Billionaires like Elon Musk are funding it because it protects their interests, when capitalism is in crisis. Those interests are totally opposite to those of ordinary, working class people. Asylum seekers, refugees, migrants, Muslims, black and brown people, Trans people and so on are not our enemy. The billionaires are. The fascists are. Please wake up, for the sake of our children!
